@vish63069 күн бұрын
Just 3 months back he was MOS against Bangladesh. Even watching him bowl in his last innings in Adelaide was a treat. He was bowling with a soft ball to well set batsmen and still beating them in flight. If Siraj had caught Travis Head the match might have been closer. His economy of 2.9 was only slightly behind Bumrah while the other bowlers were thrashed. Cummings did not even try to bowl Lyon on this pitch. In spite of his beautiful bowling Ashwin was dropped for Brisbane. Jadeja played and bowled horribly going wicketless for nearly 100 runs at over 4 an over. In this series Ashwin has been the best spinner on view. Washy and Lyon have been ordinary and Jadeja was very poor. Yet it was Ashwin who has been forced to retire. That is how BCCI works with some of their sponsored media claiming his performance was declining! In the meanwhile Rohit and Virat continue to plod along from failure to failure. Clearly one of the leading wicket takers in 2024 has had enough humiliation and called it quits.

Thanks to jadeja for saving the 3rd test match from jaws of defeat. The number 1 allrounder in icc rankings currently
@vish63067 күн бұрын
@@harshit5803 Even more thanks to Akash Deep for getting the job done since Jadeja left the job unfinished. Rahul was the major saviour. True Jadeja is the number 1 all rounder now. Ashwin has been number 1 or number 2 as well for much of his career. But the discussion is about spin bowling where Jadeja was very poor. His overall contribution in the match was negative since he gave away nearly 100 runs without a wicket and scored 77.
@harshit58037 күн бұрын
@@vish6306 yes Akash and Rahul contribution cannot be ignored. We also cannot forget the fact that we need someone like jadeja who can take wickets as well as score runs more reliably. He was the highest wicket taker along with Sundar in the last series vs nz. He and Ashwin both have saved India in the last decade in test matches. This was his first test match in aus and he delivered with the bat when needed. That's what is expected from an all rounder. Ashwin took 1 wicket in the last match with pink ball and that could have been the reason team management didn't go with him in 3rd test when the batters are failing consistently. Jadeja's overall contribution is that if he hadn't played that 77 innings with strike rate of 60 plus India would have lost the match. Rain and jadeja saved the match. Both Ashwin and Jadeja are legends of Indian cricket. I think Rohit should retire from test cricket. Also Virat should be dropped. They have been failing for a long time now.
@vish63067 күн бұрын
@ The point being made here is that Jadeja can play as a batter but Ashwin is a must being the best spinner in the world. But Jadeja bowled poorly in Brisbane and that played a big role in letting Australia get to a huge total of 445 in the first place. He could not contain either with an economy of over 4. Most importantly he never even looked like getting a wicket. He compensated for that with his solid batting. But one must look at a player’s performance as a whole. Similarly one must look at the performance of a wicket keeper batsman both as a wicket keeper and as a batter. Indian fans and the media never do that. Maybe their knowledge of the game is shallow. Rohit and Virat are the real tail enders at number 4 and 6. They are a combined 40 for 6 in the last two tests with an average of 6!
@harshit58037 күн бұрын
@@vish6306 I always believe Indian national team should be above any player. What matters is whether you win or not. Individual performances doesn't matter when you lose. That's what Australian team is . They punish the players if they don't perform. It doesn't happen here. I also believe any batsman with average of less than 40 shouldn't be selected for playing 11 unless he is young and promising and shows potential of a great future. Even then if he fails to perform after giving some opportunities, he should be dropped. I like the Australian team's mindset of winning every game but not their unethical approach sometimes. We need to develop that kind of mindset that is still missing.

I fully support Gambhir. Ashwin cannot bully team that he has to be selected at any cost. Ashwin is now bowling average like Siraj , batting a nouch better than Siraj & fielding exactly like Siraj. Why Siraj is select is because Indian team feels donkey should play in horse race because donkey work very hard irrespective of their skill. All commentators from Harsha Bogle to Sunny Gavaskar feel Siraj should play bcoze he works very hard & shows aggression though misplaced. So don’t blame Ashwin for his frustration. When donkeys can be picked consistently why not him.
