So many people in high level sports like international level cricket don't have the ability to talk about their sport like that with their mates. Having a laugh, having a good time. Slater and Hayden were the weakest part of the 2001 Australian Ashes side - no Australian (recognised) batsmen scored fewer runs (other than Simon Katich and Langer who each played one game), so it was definitely the right decision, without hindsight, to drop Slater for good. And with hindsight, it was an even better decision.
