I bought one used on OfferUp, wanted to make simple stencils I usually cut myself. However, my arthritis is getting too bad so welcome to me again. I hated it, the a,s and e,s for example doesn’t bridge the holes! Now, I bought the cricut maker, actually hubby bought for our 36th anniversary- so now I’m watching tutorials and simple projects. .I created a small sign for a craft show upcoming this after only a slight lesson. I see the bridges still aren’t on letters with holes. Any suggestion? Thanks?

One tip I wish I had know many years ago when I started is if my material doesn’t cut all the way through or if I am worried it didn’t cut all the way through, I check before even unloading the mat. If it didn’t cut all the way through you can push the c again and it will cut again. Because if you unload the mat it might not cut the same

Your presentation of all of the info you shared was not only helpful, but you made me feel like I was a friend right there with you! You shared your thoughts intimidation and other feelings that all of us feel as beginners, and did it with such a sweetness and casualness! I have been watching “how to” videos for 3 months now, and I am walking away from yours feeling confident enough to give it a shot, and safe enough to be ok if I fail miserably. Thank you! I will definitely be back to watch other videos you post!!

One thing that’s also important to note is that when doing research as to how to do something in Design Space, make sure you pay attention to the fact that not all operating systems run Design Space the same! If you have an Apple product, it’s going to look different from someone doing so on something else, as well as from a tablet or your phone or home computer! Not all of the features are the same in the app across the board as well as all the features are not going to be in the same place or even existent at all in each one. It may take a little bit more effort to learn how to run it all when keeping this in mind.

Circuit ez press don't get. Definitely get the little $50 one and sissor $300 press from Micheals. Circuit does now have a clam shell press but I haven't tried it. The vinyl would unstick off my T-shirt s after a few washes. ( I lost to much money remaking t shirts)

I use clear book vinyl cover and contact paper as transfer from the dollar tree. My weeding tool from freight harbor and I bought my sticky mats from Amazon for less then $20.00 for three. I only buy vinyl from cricut when they are on sell for $5.00. I learn to substitute things for less.

Ive wanted a Cricut for a few years now, and my husband just bought one for me for Christmas. Ive had it for about a week now and have only done one project (which was a premade design). After getting set up and beginning in design space, let me tell you, Ive been overwhelmed and intimidated about the whole thing! I thought in the design space program there would be a beginners guide with step by step tutorials on how to make different projects, but so far from what I've found there isnt. It seems you have to depend heavily on youtube videos for help, and Im more of a hands on learner so its a bit harder for me to learn just by watching videos. Your video is one of the very few I've watched so far, and your whole demeanor just seems so genuine, and you seem so relatable! Your channel is my first subscription and I will be watching more of your videos!

I think it was very important that you ended with "practice before you sell!" because its 100% true. I've yet to get a complaint with my hand dyed yarn business but the excitement of making a sale in the early days was almost overshadowed by the anxiety of someone possibly being displeased with my work/product! I totally hold on to those moments too.

A little note: the purple mat is more for thicker fabrics like leather! There is also a pink mat for fabrics like cotton, I just don’t ever cut fabric so I don’t use the pink mats :) Also, aluminum foil doesn’t actually sharpen the blade, but rather cleans all the debris and whatnot from it, so that you can truly take advantage of the sharpness of the blade! I hope this helps 💜

Love the real advice you give about practicing before actually start selling your art or services !! I am in the Nail and Beauty industry in Ontario aswell and I see so many people posting services and crafts in marketplace and it’s blows my mind the confidence they have to be doing that when they are still just practicing or just started .. I studied and practiced on myself for a year and a half because I felt that my services would last and was worth paying for !!!!! And also obviously that knowledge you learn you don’t want to make those mistakes with customers and get negative feedback it would also stick with me very badly

Love the “sheet” language stuff-up being kept in the video 😆😆 #RealTalk Excellent video!! Haven’t bought one yet, only recently discovered what they are as I’ve only just started crafting… Well, haven’t even started crafting yet, I’ve been gathering crafting materials for 2yrs & have a literally overflowing whole room for crafting (stupid OCD, spent 2yrs gathering & organising rather than crafting😑) but considering getting one of these rather than continuing to spend a fortune buying pre-done die cuts ect. Great video!! 😁😁

I totally get you- Ive done the same with my sewing room, more tools, wasted fabric , and organizing than actual projects; and since I also want a cricut but don't know which one to get that I know I will use, I decided to hold on and research.

Just a side note: Tools are based on what kinds of crafting you do. I use the spatula with almost every project because I work with cardstock. It helps to loosen the cardstock from the mat. I personally stick with just Green mats but do use paper towels with new mats to make it less sticky otherwise it's hard to get cardstock off of it till it's been used a few times. I use unscented baby wipes to clean my mats in between cuts as my preferred craft makes them dirty faster than other types of crafting. As for general cleaning I use dawn dish soap and soft sponge to do better cleaning of them. (1x/month) Please please do your research before posting information that isn't correct. You can not sharpen a carbide blade unless you use a diamond sharpener. All tin foil will do is potentially remove little piece that may have gotten stuck on the blade or adhesive if you do a lot of adhesive projects. A paper towel with rubbing alcohol will do the same thing. Thank you for sharing. It's great to look back on what you have learned and be able to ease the minds of newer users.

I so so so appreciate this video! It was so nice to watch someone being real about the process and getting started! I wish you had more circuit how to videos! What other htv vinyls would you recommend. I currently am using Siser easy weed which I love but not sure what others to try. I haven't heard the best about cricut brand so I was hoping to get more recommendations,

First of all, I absolutely love your personality!!!! I feel like this entire video was just like a chat with a super laid back friend. I’m so thankful you shared your wisdom here. My fiancé and I have had a cricut joy for several months and we LOVE it, but I can’t do all of the paper crafting I’d like to do, soooo today, I finally did the thing and bought an Explore Air 2. I’m absolutely subscribing, because you are so down to earth and I feel like your videos are going to be Uber helpful!

I haven't bought one yet, I want one that makes shirts , decals to put on mugs or different things, but these things really intimate me, I do t know which one to get, my friend suggested the first one, but I don't want to be purchasing another in two months when I know what I'm doing, and can't make things I want to.
