I went for first time and solo in February. I cancelled my hotel in Times Square because the crime was concentrated there at the time. I stayed on the lower east side And I ended up having a fantastic time other than encountering crack heads here or there. Also tbh, I crossed the road whenever I saw groups of men in hoodies or who looked suspicious in general.
