The video states that energy drinks are the opposite of hydrating. I'm a Dietitian, and am a little obsessed about researching caffeine. Caffeine increases your need to urinate, but almost all energy drinks in Canada aren't concentrated enough to cause dehydration. They actually are hydrating, just not to the same degree as the same volume of water would be. However, espresso shots and energy shots (gels) are dehydrating. Also, if energy drinks are mixed with alcohol, they can be dehydrating due to the combined effect of alcohol and caffeine. Energy drinks can also mask the effect of alcohol, and college aged people mixing them together are more likely to have unprotected sex, and 3-4 times more likely to drive drunk, than if they consumed alcohol alone. Caffeine can be a useful drug, but use it wisely, carefully.

Some people aren't healthy to drink energy drink. At times, they drink it because they think they need it. For the ones who had died drinking energy: How many have they consumed within 24 hours. Have they dilute the energy drink with enough water. I can drink energy drinks all day, but I pay attention to the amount I drink. I am a warehouse employee and also a student. I do physical labor for 10-12 hours, but I only drink one can for the day I work. As I work, I also drink lots of water. Not to disgust anyone, but when you consume energy drink. As you are intake an enormous amount of certain substance such as caffeine your body would reject the excess amount that you do not need. That being said, when you pee, you can see all the waste washing down that toilet bowl. Drink some water, and dilute that caffeine out. Energy drinks should be consumed wisely, just like consuming medicine. Its a substance, just think about it.

From working in a supermarket - the funniest scenarios I find is when 60 year olds (or thereabouts) are buying energy drinks. Mostly it's the 20-40 year age group that buys them, but the teenagers from the skate park over the road sometimes buy them too. Only once did a 10 year old (he looked that age) buy one through my register.... I really did think that was too young - but there is no law against it. However, in Australia - it is a legal requirement for everything to have a table of nutritional quantities on it (sugar, energy content, protein, fat, vitamins, etc) Even the burgers at McDonalds and KFC etc. have this information on them!
@fatsephy11 жыл бұрын
On the contrary, caffeine is rather good for you, and in much larger quantities than you find in these drinks too. The only reason to avoid it is if you have an intolerance or allergy (a few documented cases) to it. The only evil thing in any of these drinks is sugar. Sugar is one of the most dangerous substances known to man. Everyone seems to forget that.

Holy crap, people are so ignorant. These people just automatically hate any high-caffeine product, just because. Granted, energy drinks are NOT good for you, but in moderation they will NOT harm you. Just because a few college idiots decided to drink like 6 of them in one night, and die, you say they need to be banned. The average 8oz cup of coffee contains around 200mg of caffeine while a typical 16oz energy drink contains around 160mg. Moderation is key, people!

No, their doesn't, you statist shill. If parents are too stupid to properly educate their kids and not buy them this shit, then it's their fault, not the energy drink companies. The government doesn't need to step in. These products are safe. If you irresponsibly use them, and consume more than the recommended amount, then you are at fault. You can die from drinking too much water, should that too be regulated? Some people die after drinking coffee, why doesn't that get media attention? The government can't regulate stupidity.

I certainly did not think of the health impact until I started to notice heart pains and irregular/elevated heart beats for hours after consuming even small parts of energy drinks. Drink at your own discretion but I certainly will not be consuming them again. I still drink coffee 2-3 cups a day and have no persisting symptoms from the caffeine boost alone. I'm certainly more aware of my personal health as you should be too.

As soon as my kids turned 12, I got more serious about warned them abour ingesting certain things via mouth, arms, nose etc. I've even warned them about coffee. It's my responsibility to inform my kids of the danger they may come in contact with. People are out here trying to make money & what's being offer may not be good for them. If they make a conscious choice to gulp these drinks down without food etc. I visit them in the hopital but they're paying the bill. The grave? Nah, I told them "I'm not putting the first nail in your coffin" at age 10 and this stuck with them & they're 19 now. You can't tell me these parents never saw their kids walk in the house with one of these drinks. They probably purchased these drinks for their sons when they took trips to a convenient store together. Parenting is more than "do you honework, how was your day." Sometimes it's "What the h*ll is that in your hand?"

That's not the case. The ingredients in energy drinks can be found in many natural foods, the only difference is the dosage.
