Praying those women find peace wherever there souls now rest. The girls were so beautiful and full of life. It must be hard for all of them esp. the first wife in the family. The nice part was they were not alone in their final moments. RIP.

Lughmani Tehreem : Yes, but Muslims don`t care about no other ppl. that are non Mulsim, they only go by Sharia and their traditions and culture. Since the Western World don`t wanna face this fact it`s getting worse and worse by the day, these 3 killers feel no guilt, `couse in their culture they even HAD TO do this for their honour.

@@fredajordan5704 Hello, Freda. I am a Muslim myself, but I think there are more cultural aspects on this case rather than religious ones. I am born and living in Indonesia, a country with the largest Muslim population in the world, but we do things differently here compare to Shafia's Afghan family. My parents still allow me to date and marry someone I choose myself. I am allowed to not wear hijab, as long as I wear appropriate outfit to the public. I think many Muslims in Indonesia live like myself rather than following Shafia family. I think the motive is more cultural. If my Indonesian Muslim friends know this story, I believe they will condemn them, too. We can adapt to democratic country, because we believe Islam is not as harsh as what Shafia family believe.

@@anissaantaniahanjani4812 Ty for your reply. I believe culture and religion are interwoven. It`s probably that younger muslims want to open up but in Islam the family, community is a very important thing. Plus in all nations men are dominant, abut in Islam especially. I don`t care for ppl. religion, but if Muslims for instance wanna live in western countries, they have to adjust to our standards, not the other way arounf, and this is mostly not happening. Why don't leaders in the Muslim faith start telling people they will go to hell for killing a family member to help to stop this, if it is not part of the religion.?

It is not ok to hurt someone in our religion UNLESS it is an act of self-defense. People have taken religion and made it an excuse for all of their wrong-doings and have manipulated words from the Qur'an and taken them out of context to justify their actions. Some religious leaders have taken the idea of 'Jihad', which means to sacrifice yourself for the better good, and have corrupted the idea (for power,etc.).

Yusra S. I understand that what you say is true and just. I just wonder why there is not yet a Muslim movement to correct these misconceptions among the less literate and thinking Muslims like yourself? = If a group of important Islamic leaders got together and came up with modern day rules of behavior which both fit with the Koran and with modern times, it would be beneficial to the everyday Muslim who might think that Mohamed wanted "honor killings" or "terrorism" for example. I pray for the Islamic leaders to do something like that soon.

Hi Mohammed, Absolutely agree with you but feel you and a lot of others who in all likelihood totally disagree with the ‘western’ way of life and morals, feel this way of sorting out problems in ones own family has and maybe alway was something done and those people looked upon as almost saints after doing it perhaps? The laws and way of life they follow which allow this have to be thought about and made by someone and I think this is ‘Charier’ and please forgive the ignorant spelling here, but I simply cannot respect any country or family or people whom use this type of action as an everyday way of dealing with what ‘one person’ thinks is wrong in their own opinion, those that do this murder and torture, are they some kind of perfect person never having done anything wrong? Where does this stop within a family, is this done to a wife or daughter, and so the rest of the family who may know of it but have figuratively speaking have signed an invisible agreement to agree to say nothing, are absolutely as guilty as those doing the murders. And the point I am trying oh so hard and not really doing is, in theory each consecutive female in a family can expect this torture and death. I am not perfect by any means, but I know what is wrong and right, and if it has to be isn’t it better to have these ‘mostly females’ sentenced to a term of imprisonment or a huge fine, or that they should be thrown out of the family naked in the streets, isn’t that better and a more careful way of running a country whose in danger of running out of females to carry on the very way of life the previous females were tortured and murders for? If, harsh as it may be this is done, at least these women and maybe men, forgive my ignorance here, but I know of no men I have never heard about with respect to this type of family action any men or brothers getting this done. At least the women would still be alive and maybe free to leave their SICK and TWISTED COUNTRY and its LAWS behind when they come to the west. I do not know why a more active and forceful way is taken to stop or prevent this type of thing in the west. The truth is, these apparently clever people come to our countries and could not care less about the laws and this goes for the religions, they continue to live there whole life as if they were back in their own country, that is absolutely wrong.

You are totaly right. Just please understand there is nothing in islam or the quran that tells us to apply honor killing, or torture, or bombings or kill innocent people. On the contrary our religion like all other religions spreads peace, forgiveness, opening your heart, understanding people. and so on. However what we are seeing now, is more of arrogance , ignorance, and blind tribal traditions. they worry about there Honor and name back home more than they worry about the well being of there daughters and wives. Just dont forget all countries and cultures have murderers. and those people are no different than your average canadian killer. They try to bring God into this but God is far from it. peace

I do know if this was a honor killing but to wipe out your own family is a line that no one should ever cross that is just pure evil. Ideals and beliefs are honorable when they do not cause anyone else any harm especially when your not in your own country. You should always show the best of your culture. Three lives never given the chance again to flourish what a tragedy.

If you can give a single reference of anything that you have written is in Quran, than I'll do what ever you want me to do.

+Debra Athanas Any thing mention in Sharia, might not be very likable due to the principles of human behaviour, also because no one would want to accept for what they are. like true example is, Women all around the world fights for equal rights and we are the same as men, same in every thing, but if you look in sharia perspective it's the other way round, God have strictly punished those female, who have misused their bodies by wearing revealing cloths and spreading profanity and those who leads to prostitution are ordained for stoning, because you can't stop an evil to spread filth in the society but you can control it with a fear of punishment, just the same way a murder goes to hanging or gas chamber.

+Debra Athanas Why is in western society, sex change or so called the term "came out" is becoming very common not because the society or law is very friendly, it's just because they are against their principles of religion and that behaviour is not helping them to a clean improved healthy society. How many muslim countries are in favour of promoting sex change agenda let's speed of those Muslims living in western countries like Canada America etc are coming out... or changing their sex. why is this huge demarcation although we live in the same country have a privilege to do what ever they want to.

How do you know they were oppressed in the islamic way as the media is portraying ? They had enough freedom to be fairly free, seems to me. The father killed them, had no right to do so. But, that does not mean they were oppressed. Marrying/ dating outside of religion and culture was something he prolly did not expect. Does not necessarily mean they were oppressed. This is a very weird view, not being multi religious is not necessarily being oppressive.Again, NO WAY HE HAD THE RIGHT TO KILL THEM. But although I am not muslim, I UNDERSTAND HIS SHOCK.

They make children to have HONOUR (that's why he married the second time) and then he kills his children to maintain his honour. That's what is wrong with these people. They have children as an obligation, so if the children don't grow up to become what the parents want, either they are cast out from the family or worse, honour killing. In their minds this is the correct thing to do. I went through the first. So I know how it feels.

These actions are not part of the religion in any way, if the girls have done something wrong it is up to Allah (God) to punish them or not and I obviously can't say as it's up to Allah, but it's incredibly likely that the murderers are going to hell. Killing is forbidden in Islam and is only allowed for defence... It's so heartbreaking to know that so many people are faced with murder as a result of cruel, sick and selfish people (that sometimes think they're doing right like these idiots when they're clearly not) Oh and honour killing, screw that nonsense!

There is an important point here, not widely understood. The Koran COMMANDS ifs followers to kill. It has a set of rules, which MUST be followed. The first order is to put Allah above everything , even above family. If you do not follow them - you will be severely dealt with, or killed. If you leave Islam - you are to die If you are the wrong sect, or do not follow the rule correctly -you die If you do not believe Mohammed, and Allah - you are to die If you are a Christian, Jew, Hindu, or Buddhist - you are to die This cult of death is completely the opposite to civilised society.. People in the West cannot understand the brutality, and senseless slaughter that goes on in the name of Allah. Search TROP

No doubts about this. The Qur'an AND the Hadith and Sunnah encourage such behavior against the *kufar* (disbelievers) and *munafiqoon* / *munafiqaat* (hypocrites). Here are some Qur'anic ayat (from the Muhsin Khan translation) and Hadith that may not explicitly mention, but certainly support "honor killings" and other types of physical affliction: *Qur'an* 4:15 - "And those of your women who commit illegal sexual intercourse, take the evidence of four witnesses from amongst you against them; and if they testify, confine them (i.e. women) to houses until death comes to them or Allah ordains for them some (other) way." 5:33 - "The recompense of those who wage war against Allah and His Messenger and *do mischief in the land* is only that they shall be killed or crucified or their hands and their feet be cut off on the opposite sides, or be exiled from the land. That is their disgrace in this world, and a great torment is theirs in the Hereafter." (Emphasis mine) 18:74-75 and 80-81 - "Then they both proceeded, till they met a boy, he (Khidr) killed him. Musa (Moses) said: 'Have you killed an innocent person who had killed none? Verily, you have committed a thing "Nukra" (a great Munkar - prohibited, evil, dreadful thing)!' (Khidr) said: 'Did I not tell you that you can have no patience with me? [...] And as for the boy, his parents were believers, and we feared lest he should oppress them by rebellion and disbelief. So we intended that their Lord should change him for them for one better in righteousness and near to mercy.'" 24:2 - "The woman and the man guilty of illegal sexual intercourse, flog each of them with a hundred stripes. Let not pity withhold you in their case, in a punishment prescribed by Allah, if you believe in Allah and the Last Day. And let a party of the believers witness their punishment." *Hadith/Sunnah* Sahih Al-Bukhari V7B63N196: Narrated Abu Huraira: "A man from Bani Aslam came to Allah's Apostle while he was in the mosque and called (the Prophet ) saying, 'O Allah's Apostle! I have committed illegal sexual intercourse.' On that the Prophet turned his face from him to the other side, whereupon the man moved to the side towards which the Prophet had turned his face, and said, 'O Allah's Apostle! I have committed illegal sexual intercourse.' The Prophet turned his face (from him) to the other side whereupon the man moved to the side towards which the Prophet had turned his face, and repeated his statement. The Prophet turned his face (from him) to the other side again. The man moved again (and repeated his statement) for the fourth time. So when the man had given witness four times against himself, the Prophet called him and said, 'Are you insane?' He replied, 'No.' The Prophet then said (to his companions), 'Go and stone him to death.' The man was a married one. Jabir bin 'Abdullah Al-Ansari said: 'I was one of those who stoned him. We stoned him at the Musalla ('Id praying place) in Medina. When the stones hit him with their sharp edges, he fled, but we caught him at Al-Harra and stoned him till he died.'" Sahih Al-Bukhari V8B82N805: Narrated Jabir bin `Abdullah Al-Ansari: "A man from the tribe of Bani Aslam came to Allah's Messenger and Informed him that he had committed illegal sexual intercourse and bore witness four times against himself. Allah's Messenger ordered him to be stoned to death as he was a married person." Sahih Muslim No. 4206: He (the narrator) said: "There came to him (the Holy Prophet) a woman from Ghamid and said: 'Allah's Messenger, I have committed adultery, so purify me.' He (the Holy Prophet) turned her away. On the following day she said: 'Allah's Messenger, Why do you turn me away? Perhaps, you turn me away as you turned away Ma'iz. By Allah, I have become pregnant.' He said: 'Well, if you insist upon it, then go away until you give birth to (the child).' When she was delivered she came with the child (wrapped) in a rag and said: 'Here is the child whom I have given birth to.' He said: 'Go away and suckle him until you wean him.' When she had weaned him, she came to him (the Holy Prophet) with the child who was holding a piece of bread in his hand. She said: 'Allah's Apostle, here is he as I have weaned him and he eats food.' He (the Holy Prophet) entrusted the child to one of the Muslims and then pronounced punishment. And she was put in a ditch up to her chest and he commanded people and they stoned her. Khalid b. Walid [one of Muhammad's ruthless henchmen] came forward with a stone which he flung at her head and there spurted blood on the face of Khalid and so he abused her. Allah's Apostle heard his (Khalid's) curse that he had huried upon her. Thereupon he (the Holy Prophet) said: 'Khalid, be gentle.'"

Honour Killings in the Torah For every one that curseth his father or his mother shall be surely put to death: he hath cursed his father or his mother; his blood shall be upon him. (Leviticus 20:9) If your very own brother, or your son or daughter, or the wife you love, or your closest friend secretly entices you, saying, “Let us go and worship other gods” (gods that neither you nor your ancestors have known, gods of the peoples around you, whether near or far, from one end of the land to the other), do not yield to them or listen to them. Show them no pity. Do not spare them or shield them. You must certainly put them to death. Your hand must be the first in putting them to death, and then the hands of all the people. Stone them to death, because they tried to turn you away from the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. Then all Israel will hear and be afraid, and no one among you will do such an evil thing again. (Deuteronomy 13:6-12) If someone has a stubborn and rebellious son who does not obey his father and mother and will not listen to them when they discipline him, his father and mother shall take hold of him and bring him to the elders at the gate of his town. They shall say to the elders, “This son of ours is stubborn and rebellious. He will not obey us. He is a glutton and a drunkard.” Then all the men of his town are to stone him to death. You must purge the evil from among you. All Israel will hear of it and be afraid. (Deuteronomy 21:18-21)

if it was Cristine family nobody would brought up the religion part but if the same thing happens with Muslim family you people say all the Muslims are bad. why this discrimination ? and most of you don't know anything about Islam. blame the people who have sinned not the religion cos religion is for peace. and you will never (ever) know the actual story, what the media shows is what you know.

amer baig you r wrong in saying "if it was a Christian family nobody would have brought up the religion part..." because I've watched a number of these shows and when Christian husbands kill their wives instead of divorcing them to maintain their position in their religious community, the religion part IS MENTIONED! It was the father who gave Islam as a reason for killing the women when he said "they have betrayed Islam". However, you are right about people being the ones responsible for the atrocious actions... it's the way some people CHOOSE to interpret the Koran, the Bible and so on that is the main problem. These days religion doesn't make much sense because so many of the rules are more appropriate to a different time in civilization.

I really like your comment Amy! It's not the religion that's wrong ! It's the sick individuals who ruin lives in the name of religion! No religion on earth is violent ! Just the people justifying thier sick actions ! Everyone has a right to life which only God has a right to take! We need to be more tolerant of each other and just condemn the individuals that committed the crime!

"Evil occurs when good men do nothing"! I ask if there is even one Islamist here who is willing to not only admit that the line between "moderate Muslims" and "extremist Muslims" has become way too blurred/thin; but that after truly looking into what the teachings of the Qar'an are, that you do realise Islam is NOT a religion of peace?!?! I get why we all feel the need to reject any criticism of our own religious beliefs, however I'm astounded that where we will always hear from "moderate" Muslims that we should not lump them in with such extreme violence as what this "Honor killing" video portrays; we rarely hear from the same Muslims about how wrong the teachings that lead to such killings are. At some point don't we have to stop hiding from the fact that Islamic teachings do promote the superiority of men over women at the very least, which starts this problem!? Why do men merely need to say "I divorce you" 3 times and it's done, yet a Muslim woman must prove in a Sharia court WHY

Those girls were so naturally beautiful, all 4 of them, May their beautiful souls be set free into the universe, off to another world. Their family could only kill their physical body, never their soul. The murderers are lost souls, and although they physically still live, they are killing their souls as they become negative energy and attract and dominated by other negative entities that will be more evil on many different levels. Disgusting people. Disgusting. Where is your honour to your precious daughters and life partner? You have no honour. You are weak.

One of HBO's shining accomplishments. A very subtle but important aspect of those Kuklinski interviews is the absence of an ulterior agenda by the producers. As Joe Friday from the ancient DRAGNET TV series would say, "Just the facts, Ma'am, just the facts." Few come close to that program's quality. Even PBS subtly grinds their own axe. Narrator choice too is EXTREMELY important. GREAT ones: Linda Hunt, Will Lyman, Morgan Freeman, David Attenborough & (yes), Lilly Tomlin.

So he went to the village and shot down the man. Then he said to the villagers that he will come back in the future and also shoot down his own sister if he finds her. In Afghan and Paksitani Pashtun society, honour is not an individual thing. It belongs to the collective family and society, thats why its so F***ed up..

Does anyone know if they ever discovered why the girls didn't make an attempt to get out of the car as it was submerged? Either they were killed or rendered unconscious before they were submerged. If they were killed before, they had to have been drowned, otherwise the police would've noticed there wasn't any water in their lungs. If they were drugged, it was something untraceable. I wonder if they could compare the water in their lungs to the water in the lake, to see if they drowned elsewhere?

Oh boy this show's moving too fast for me. Why was wife arrested? the son arrested? Or was that the brother of the father? Oy. I mean doesn't there has to be pretty conclusive evidence to charge someone for murder not just "Well, we suspect they were involved and they acted sketchy in the interrogation". I don't think this show or case would fly well in America. No toxicology testing on the victims? It's fucked up what they did but I'd need to know exactly how they killed them to convict them.
