Imagine after a failed burglary in which the burglar was shot dead by the homeowner, a lawyer reacts by saying, "This 20 years old young man gave his life, so that he could get something valuable from someone else's home. I mean that's what you have to do in order to do that.". If I were the homeowner, I would not use his service even if it's free.
@simon60712 ай бұрын
It is deplorable that this lawyer just assumed that the parents of this 20 year old man (not a kid) bought him the gun when the fact is that he took his father's gun to commit the crime. He even spewed his blame shifting nonsense by comparing this case of gun violence perpetrated by the 20 year old adult Thomas Matthew Crooks to the case of Ethan Crumbley who was a 15 year old minor when he committed mass murders with the gun bought for him by his parents. It's funny when the lawyer's assistant was smart enough to point out the biased comparison of his boss. This lawyer is probably fooled by Crooks kiddy picture and has never seen the picture of the antifa-like Crooks with long hair. What else do we expect from a lawyer who admits to be "very liberal"?

The big difference I would think between this case and Crumbley is that Crumbley was actively describing serious psychological problems to his parents and begging for help, while his idiot negligent parents were just grossly uncaring and backwards. The boy told his dad he needed psychological help, and the dad told him to suck it up and bought him a gun. Even when the school said he was in crisis and needed to be taken to some treatment that very day, they couldn't be bothered to leave work to help him. The Crumbley parents didn't believe in mental illness, didn't believe guns could be dangerous, and took the warnings from teachers and school counselors as meaningless whining.
@KevinOwen872 ай бұрын
This, and also the fact that Crumbley was a 15 year old and Crooks was a 20 year old legal adult. The rifle in this case wasn't purchased for his son, it was purchased 11 years ago and the father allowed his adult son to take it to the range on occasion. It's a slippery slope to start holding people and companies accountable for the actions of others, especially adults, Since the Crumbley case involved a minor and there were clear signs that he was troubled, I do believe it was well warranted.

@platedlizard2 ай бұрын
@@reinsmanoimo the parents of Ethan were totally responsible but you're right about the school being responsible too. Schools have a right to search lockers and backpacks, if they'd done that they'd have found the gun. I had my locker searched in high school for no reason other than I had a cardboard box in it, which contained some unfired pottery I had worked on at home for my pottery class. (They thought it would be a bomb ?¿?¿? Funny thing is they missed the knife I'd put in my backpack and forgot during a camping drip lol) a lot adults messed up in that case. As for Crooks, he is an adult and imo that means his parents have a much lower level of responsibility. If they knew he was planning on trying to shoot Trump (or anyone) they should have reported it, but if they had no idea he was likely to commit violence I don't see how they could be responsible

Having been a participant in a Presidential Rally in 1976 (showing my age here) as a student in the college band when President Ford came to our university, I can tell you that the Secret Service, had they been doing the job like happened back then, would have had a sniper on every roof around there. They came in a week early, scouted out the area, inside the gym and outside. They did backgrounds on anyone who was a band member, flag presenter, usher, and they cordoned off the gym afterward. They sent a military band leader to teach us to play the national anthem and Hail to the Chief the way "it's supposed to be" (nevermind we've played the anthem since we were in 7th grade). The day he flew in, he was about 40 miles away. On the highway, the local LEOs had every bridge with an armed guard on it. They had us come in 2 hours early to get a practice in, then had us leave cases and purses in the band room, did a pat down of each of us, checked our instruments for weapons, and had us lined up to go in 45 minutes before the President arrived. There were snipers on every rooftop that had a line of sight to the building. They also blocked off the main and side streets where the entourage came in. There were armed uniform and undercover LEOs in the audience. It was tight as...well, you know the colloquialism, but it was so much fun. I've never forgotten it. In my mind, the entire place was understaffed for the Trump rally. Mistakes were made, whether intended or not, and if nothing else, it shows a lack of leadership both at the top of the Secret Service, but also for the advance team and the local LEOs. Someone should have had every roof, the water tower, and the grounds saturated with agents/officers. I'm glad the head of the Secret Service resigned, she needed to. Ultimately, it was her lack of leadership that caused this to happen.

A million ppl have said it already, but I’ll voice it too. Having Michael in the videos is great. Obv he’s the behind the scenes guy, I’m not asking he’s in every video thr entire video talking throughout. But hearing his reactions, seeing him fact check once in a while, brief interactions between you two, stuff like that is awesome. Let’s say it’s an hour video, if Michael talks for a total of like 2min? 3-5min? Fantastic. Bruce is the older wiser person with credentials, he’s the attorney. We are here to have a seasoned defense attorney give opinions, even if they’re kinda wild or funny AF, they’re his opinions. Without his opinions/personality/humor, he’s just another lawyer. So we want all of it. But Michael chiming in a little is great! Hearing him laugh at stuff I think most of us are laughing at just gives me a good feeling…like he’s kinda our “voice” at times. I do think the cuts to and from him will continue to get more smooth, they’re VERY brand new relative to the channel. So that’ll just get polished over time. If there are occasional episodes where Michael is in it way more…ideally less serious ones where it’s not like an open case. That way Michael can say w/e or make a joke without crossing any kinda line unintentionally bc it’s an open investigation or case. But I think I speak for most of us when I say (and this isn’t meant to be negative toward Michael what so ever) it should be Bruce speaking like 99%+ of the time in 95%+ of the videos. Michael reacting a bit, a little thing here or there, I love it. A more casual episode sometimes where you guys chop it up for a bit? Seems like that’s something to look in to as an occasional thing. But I think this is kinda perfect for now, as I said the transitions between you two will get more clean in editing as you go. ✌️

that's exactly how powerful people get to do what they want and cover it up. its very common for police to look into accomplices when crimes take place . also its far more plausible especially with all evidence /information taking into account that people could be paid of ,threatened ect to leave so many gaps in security and protocol not being followed correctly than it is that they simply made so many basic errors and didn't follow protocols . in your view someone attacked you or your family you would accept it was a single person rather than more even though many people would profit by billions if you died, many people want you dead just from hate. and you would only suspect a bigger picture if a investigation from a 3rd party said so even with that 3rd parties track record with attacking you.

There were some massive screwups here, but this number and degree of screwups is nothing new, nothing unique. No conspiracy is required - just failure of leadership to supervise and correct, failure to maintain an appropriate organizational culture. Bad leadership allows risk to be normalized, allows complacency and laziness to set in. Was a conspiracy required for the USS Bonhomme Richard to burn? Nope. Just widespread disregard for rules and regulations intended to prevent a small fire from spreading throughout the whole ship. Was a conspiracy required for the Space Shuttle Challenger disaster? Nope. Just organizational normalization of risk. Don't assume conspiracy just because your mind has difficulty grasping just how colossally an organization can mess up.
@jtadevich2 ай бұрын
@@warpedweirdo It's quite possible you are correct, and I usually agree with your reasoning. But I'm not convinced yet about Thomas Crooks. Especially since this seems so much more simple than the examples you gave. I think it needs more time for investigation to prove one way or the other. I will add that I hope you're right. I really hate the thought that we could have a significant amount of people willing to conspire to an assassination attempt. But it wouldn't be a new thing according to history, and if you look around, people have been talking about shooting him, on stage no less. Also, politicians have incited violence on TV. I mean that quite literally, not at all figuratively. But I still hope you are right.
