I think Prentiss' and Reid's friendship is so underrated. They care for each other so deeply and unconditionally, and would do anything for each other's well being.

Everyone always says Reid and JJ (either as a ship or the one he trusts the most) but I always felt that Reid and Prentiss were the closest. Look at how many times he opened up to her: This scene, his "I'm 30" scene, etc. That's why I was a little surprised that there wasn't more hostility between them when Prentiss *SPOILER ALERT* came back from the dead.

I think he just ends up so grateful that she is back. However he does end up angry with JJ for hiding it. He also says to JJ that he feels betrayed because he came to her house crying every day for ten weeks thinking Emily was dead and JJ didn't tell him. That is such a clear example of how much he loved her. :(

maybe because Emily probably had no way to let them know she was still alive and Spencer understood that, but he was furious at JJ though because she knew and never told him

@@MyhKZbin26 the show is common for not being consistent with important stuff , and dropping a lot of storylines . I think the show had a plan of him having it , but decided last minute to drop that storyline . In a interview Mathew gray gubler said Spencer was schizophrenic, and they started giving him signs of schizophrenia . It's common for shows to forget or drop storylines, especially one with so many different storylines happening.

Matthew said that Reid was a borderline schizophrenic and a drug addict he was addicted to dilaudid. I read about dilaudid and you can get addicted to it if your schizophrenic. It also may have said that it could boost up the procedure of becoming schizophrenic. Many people say he was having withdrawls from the drug or he was sleep deprived these seem like the easier solutions to his headaches and the hallucinations. It also looks like Reid could have dementia or alzheimers later in the future he talks about it later in the show.

Er... Anyone can get addicted to Dilaudid. My mother was a heroin addict who used oxycodone and hydrocodone to get her fix. I never got the point of abusing pain killers, until i had to get my gallbladder removed and was hooked to a iv full of dilaudid for a week. Im not addicted to it, but yes anyone not just schizophrenics can get addicted to the numbing sensation it gives you.

I read that if you have just one parent with schizophrenia you only have a 10% chance of developing it yourself, which means you have a 90% chance of not getting it so Spencer has that on his side, plus he's in his 30's now and developing schizophrenia in your 30's is relativelyy uncommon partictarly if you're male, so he has that on his side

At the time of the season, he was in his late 20s (he turns thirty halfway through season 7, True Genius), which would be the latest common time for it to manifest. The fact that he has a chance for developing it at all would scare him (it’s said to be one of his biggest fears), plus the strange medical abnormalities that he’s been experiencing with no clear cause would heighten his fear even more. TL;DR Even with all these facts, the psychological response will still be there. He may have it on his side, but that doesn’t help if he doesn’t think anyone (or thing) else is.

But... there is just something about Emily. I think she's one of the best, if not the best written of all the characters on the show, she was spectacular, and she was portrayed SO well by Paget!!

I believe the headaches are related to schitzophrenia (sp?), it has been revealed through out the seasons that Reid's biggest fear was to end up like his mother, so I'm guessing they want us to think Reid is coming closer to what he fears. Still they could be stress headaches and/or migranes, since Reid isn't one to take time off.

@@DaniellaAdorno i don't think you read what, and actually understood what i mean/meant , because that wasn't the point, the point was he actually got help for his drug addiction in season 3/4 and in season 4, there was a episode where he was clean sor 10 months, there is no indication that he ever had a relapse. when i refresened maeve i was refrenced her suggestions as evidence that these headaches haven"/ stopped, they also started in season six, in other words i'm saying that the title is slightly miss leading, people seem to beleive that this is reids drug confesion but its not, also taling vitamins, drinking plenty of water and getting plenty of sleep can soothe headaches, rule out/ treat certain causes for headaches and so on, and tend to be much more effective to treating chronic reoccurance of headaches that pain relievers ehich only act temporarily, in other words its not that generic, many people in the medicle feild would offer similar advice (with more thorough testkng , but thanks ig? i hope this clears any confusion

Reid immediately knowing that something was going on with Emily 😢 this storyline was so good and also heartbreaking and then a relief knowing that Emily survived in the end of this storyline with Doyle but it was so sad to see the whole team grieve for Emily since only Hotch and JJ could be the only ones there to know about Emily being forced into fleeing to Paris after faking her death. 😢 I will say I love that the writers chose to end THAT episode with JJ and Emily who we couldn’t see her actual face at the time (we did see JJ and Emily in a flashback during the 200th episode when JJ was abducted that showed the flashback of when Emily was with JJ while they were on the plane and heading to hide Emily after she recovered and faked her death) but we knew it was Emily from the zoomed in shot of her bitten nails so at least the fans knew/predicted that Emily wasn’t dead and we would hopefully see her again. Thank god we did! Now she’s the amazing, badass leader for the team which is right where she belongs. I’m so glad Paget chose to come back (multiple times actually lol) and Emily is a crucial part of the team who has grown so much as a character and is an absolute badass like always!

Each segment has individual functions; for example, certain areas dedicated to patterns, languages, etcetera (I don't think details are necessary or this comment will be way too long). It's just an analogy of sorts, for the actual fact, because it's similar to the truth: that we don't use our brain to its fullest potential. That's why there are so many different values for the average so-called percentage of the brain

@Wyren09 Actually schizophrenia can happen when people know allot, people only use 10% of their brain and using more then that could cause schizophrenia, which is common. Actually if you were to search up "Smart people get schizophrenia" you would see that the smarter you tend to be the more likely you are to get it. But it's okay, it just means your intelligent. Cause of this people have argued, that schizophrenia is what is actually there but others can't see or here. But, I have my doubts.

@BamBabyBrenda To be fair, pop psychology has us believing things that are not at all true. The "10% of your brain" thing isn't true at all really. Schizophrenia usually comes about in early adulthood from 18-19 till about 35 (though research flexes the numbers a little and it is possible but rare to develop it later on) so Reid very well might get it. He just turned 30 so he isn't in the clear yet!

The situation of this character Spencer was always serious, but was neglected during the serie. Since the beginning of the serie, he needed psychological counseling, (with or without migraine, schizophrenia, bordeline, autism, etc) because he already carried many untreated traumas. His 'infantilization' messed him up throughout the serie. In the beginning, despite some flaws I noticed, I liked him because I identified with him in several things in common like college degrees, my shyness, diverse cultural interests, etc. He spent at least 3 seasons having some aggressive attacks that caused me fear. From some episodes of season 6 I started to find him more and more problematic and with several complications accumulating and without the slightest mention of psychotherapy. I only liked him in the piano episode. The enchantment was breaking and I didn't understand why he was so coveted by women. I think I'm the only woman who watched this serie and would be afraid of a guy like him when he acted aggressively. Sometimes he was arrogant. I don't understand why so many women became obsessed with him. The serie lacked social responsibility and lacked more critical awareness from fans to demand that they deal with his mental problems more seriously and speaking of the importance of psychology, instead its treated everything superficially. Several bizarre, fanciful ans surreal situations in which he was involved were romanticized and sensualized. The strangest thing was that this 'genius' guy had a degree in psychology and neglected his mental/emotional health a lot, that was my biggest disappointment. In the World Mental Health Day, it was sad to see that something serious as mental health was so neglected in this serie and so irresponsible and superficial way.

@Cynof08 Actually there has been some know cases where schizophrenia occurs at age 15. And that one where some girl is having schizophrenia and at a kid age but, I think that's all a lie.

ok maybe nobody likes this, but I feel that the real ship here is prentiss and Reid, Prentiss was with reid in all his problems, he helped him day and night until he got out of jail, when he had problems with his mom, Emily was there, I mean, obviously JJ too, but sometimes I feel like JJ was put into a character that some of us saw as if in the past JJ was bothered by Reid, or he didn't like it, I don't know if I mean it, but almost always Emily has more focused, JJ is not the dick

Dude is a Super Genius with an eidetic memory and how many phds? If he has headaches all the time why doesn't he do some damn research himself and figure it out himself. Why be dependent on a medical community that refused to wash their hands before delivering babies for 30 fucking years😢😢😢

Not much of a confession, here from a video suggesting he would confess worse stuff in some episode sometime. I haven't had access to watching the show for a long time, maybe it was on a channel that got too expensive.

His mother has schizophrenia which is genetically passed. It begins to appear in men during their mid to late 20s, and he's 28 or 29 in this episode. Early signs of it include intense headaches, severe anxiety, and emotional distance. Luckily he doesn't have Schizophrenia because that would really suck!

LoveOfLife26 Reid does end up with acute schizophrenia. That's why when he looks at information, sometimes it moves before his eyes. It's his schizophrenia combined with his eidetic memory and IQ that makes this possible. His schizophrenia doesn't tend to effect him negatively until he undergoes something particularly traumatic, at which ;joint we usually see him have acute flashbacks for short periods of time. This happens a lot throughout many series if you really pay attention. They just don't turn it into a huge storyline. It's just a part of Reid that he deals with day by day. :)

layla sarrinchar Which flashbacks are you referencing? The only flashbacks I remember seeing were from he was having nightmares or being drugged... I don't think the words moving before his eyes are part a part of schizophrenia, just his beautiful mind :) (Not trying to argue, this is all genuine) :)

EricaM. You could kind of call these flashbacks or hallucinations but in the episode 'corazon' reid has confusing and overwhelning visions. In these visions there are moments where he sees evidence from the case they're working and parts of the ritual used by the unsub. I've always classed them as acute flashbacks kind of becuase they're things he saw in the case. Also, in the series four episode 'conflicted' we are shown short clips of what happened to reid involving tobias henkle. But then again, they might not be flashbacks. That might have just been the show trying to jog our memory. And then in 'fear and loathing' reid experiences a lot of flashbacks about tobias henkle. However this is very soon after he was kidnapped and while taking dilaudid so it may not be caused schizophrenia, although schizophrenia could have made it more vivid. Then there is series 4's 'instincts' and 'memoriam' in which reid has repressed memories about a boy murdered in his town when he was young come back to him. They come in the form of distorted nightmares though, so you could also say that these are not flashbacks. He's also induced into having flashbacks using hypnotherapy in one series 4 episode. Reid is really complicated and so is his beautiful mind so you can kind of interpret the way it works in a lot of different ways. (I think this is the longest comment I've ever written) :)
