Everyone loves this episode. This was one of the those that made me love Emily so much, and Hotch for how much they care about what they do.

If I remember correctly, Gideon said in one episode that the single public safety awareness campaign that did the most harm is Stranger Danger, because it created a popular perception that by default people you know won't hurt you, while those two things are not correlated. Not letting your guard down should be the focus of safety education. Family ia not always safe.

yes, i couldn’t imagine my family would ever do that but in reality you’d never know

I've always thought one of the worst things about this case is the fact the Father and Uncle seem to be twins. Even with her abuser in jail there will be times Katie will see her dad and panic thinking it is her uncle, especially at night. She'd likely see him in the dark or from the corner of her eye and her memories and instincts would make her jump or flinch, therapy would be desperately needed more than it would already since she has a copy of her abuser living with her. I'd assume from then on her dad wouldn't enter her bedroom at night or in the dark so she'd have peace of mind. I don't really see the cousin as a problem child, he did something stupid to impress a girl he liked, in many cases it wouldn't have involved the police. He might end up with family or in the care system, he is unlikely to be adopted since he is older.

There are things the dad can do, at least. Growing out facial hair, different hair style. Enough to make him look separate from her abuser.

@@TimedRevolver Amazingly I've seen this episode more times than I can count but honestly never considered that being an issue. I feel like if I were her dad I'd have to change my appearance. Facial hair. Dye my hair. Glasses. Literally anything so she never sees him in me again.

For me Hotch, Emily and Morgan were my top this episode. Morgan understanding after being in a situation himself understanding the signs of someone who is being mol***ted. Hotch and Emily just not letting either parent breath or think just pounding them until they just revealed the truth. The fact that they didn’t feel any remorse for their actions towards a little child that nonetheless is a family member 😡
@Lrodpotato Жыл бұрын
100% agree. And I think what triggers me even more about this episode is the molestation by the Uncle. Who's not just her uncle but her dad's identical twin brother. They would literally look the same in her eyes. It's just sickening to think what would go through a child's mind in that kind of situation.
@trinitybernhardt9944 Жыл бұрын
I feel so bad for both kids. Katie is gonna be so messed up for such a long time, but so is Jeremy. He was innocent. I think he was in deep denial about his mom. He never wanted his cousin to suffer. I do worry that he could end up alone, but I honestly can't imagine anything that would get me to turn on my nieces and nephew. They are not their parents, so unless I found out Jeremy had hurt Katie... the emotions are gonna be a powder keg no matter what, though.

You would think that sick bastard (uncle/ twin brother of the girl's father) is awful human(?) being. But his wife...I would say she's even worse for blaming six years old child and making excuses for her husband to keep him by her side. She's sick too.

Only two were involved. The only thing the kid did was not keeping an eye on her because he played a game and a girl showed him a little attention. It was the aunt that ripped the necklace off because the uncle gave it to her. And what will happen to the kid, he will most likely be adopted by his aunt and uncle, so Katie's parents, since they are most likely closest family.

Jeremy lied to protect his mom. He heard her and Katie interact. That's why he had his little freak out session during questioning.
@xkindredxsoulsxxx41955 ай бұрын
@@oh7henryI actually don't think he lied. I think he was in denial and suppressing something that was too much for him. Even if it was a conscious lie though, I can't blame him. He's a young kid and this whole situation is a lot and that's his Mom. Probably on some level he doesn't even believe his mom would hurt her really.

This episode gives me the creeps. An uncle doing that to his niece and the aunt blames the victim then takes advantage of all the family's trust and another ones tragedy to get rid of the girl that she saw as the problem. It's so gross and makes my skin crawl. That said it is still an amazing showing for our team, everyone gets something to do. Reid with the cousin, Morgan putting together the pieces on what was being done to Katie, Hotch and Emily really digging into the parents/ suspects and more, especially when they clearly just got to Katie in time.

Idk how people like the team do their job. I would’ve exploded if I found out the girls uncle was abusing her. They have a better sense of justice than me because if I found out someone was molesting a child and a family member at that I would just lost it. It’s so sad that so many children have to deal with something that they don’t even understand and can’t even begin to comprehend. Love this show and how real it can get

This is one of those episodes that sticks with you because of how disturbing it is (there's another one kind of like it that I can't wait for you to get to). Especially clever how the writers start it out so that it's so open ended, then gradually hone in on the real suspect, and realising just how close to home it is for the victim and her family. Makes me sick every damn time. But it's such an awesome episode for how the BAU eventually reveals the truth.

I don't think that listening to metal, liking girls and playing videogames makes Jeremy a problem child, i see him not being as helpful was because he was in deep denial about his mom being the one to kidnap his cousin. So much so that it developed into an acute anxiety disorder. None of the kids here are at fault, I worry for their future if anything.
