In this presentation, Dr Hayley Boxall explores the key findings from the AIC’s research focusing on Adolescent family violence (AFV), which has found that AFV is a key stage in the overall trajectory of young people’s violent criminal careers. Further, the prevalence of domestic and family violence victimisation in the lives of young people who use violence in the home is high, with many young people arguing that they used violence as a means of retaliation and self-protection. Looking to solutions, the benefits of holistic family-based services and restorative justice are discussed.
