I was always the assumption that a crimson belly was a color mutation untill you and sophie got Kipling. They are a very interesting species.

They are! Loads of people think they are! I’ve even had comments like I’ve doctored photos of a normal green cheek lol

I need your advice please. I've cared for conures before, but not CBC. I wasn't planning to take Griffith home, but he was being kept outside with larger birds in temperatures under 9c, from the condition of his aviary(covered in crap and left with 1 type of seed in a large bucket)I believe they were mostly ignore, he was the only conure of 3 birds. He was in a very bad condition, has a couple nub toes, a bald spot on part of his wing, and only had 3 flight feathers, the rest look like they were removed with a saw. I'm saying this as I knew there will be difficulties. It's been about 2-3 weeks and I've not wanted to push him to fast and give him space, and time to realise he's safe now. He's bathing regularly, something he couldn't do before and I try to give him a varied diet. I'm working towards some basic training, and trying to get him comfortable being around my hands. He bites very, very hard compared to my gcc. and seeing a hand can make him express aggression, hell open his wings and headbutt whatevers near him. So I'm taking things slow. although he's beginning to calm down, with no change in his environment or any apparent stimulus, hell flatten himself on his perch or top of the cage, does tiny wing flaps and screams, I'm wondering if you have an idea or ideas as to what could be causing though, so I can work through any suggestions to ease whatevers stressing him. That's problem number 1. Number 2 being an outside bird he gets anxious around night time, and I believe the birds must have huddled together to survive the cold. about 5pm without fail every day, he gets very anxious and looks for a dark secure space, which he doesn't seem to think is inside his cage. He was very scared and has been sleeping inside a dog carrier it's quite large, he'll crawl in and climb the mesh and sleep there pretty well until the morning, usually from 5/6 until 6/7 although the carrier isn't a small space, I didn't want to force him to stay in a place he feels uncomfortable and cause him more stress but i understand it's not practical nor potentially good for him. Any advice would be more than appreciated. Thank you, and really enjoy your videos.

I just got a crimson belly conure from a horrible pet shop he’s still untamed and his tail was damaged at the shop I chose to take him and rehome him to give him a better life are there any tips that I could have for taming him as he deathly afraid of me he’s starting to get more comfortable but I have a bunch of toys for him and he flaps his wings a bunch which I’ve read means he’s happy but I’m not sure

Wing flapping can mean all sorts, so it’s best not to assume if possible! So it’s awesome that you’ve taken him on. I’d take it nice and slow, give him plenty of time to settle in. I’d work out what his favourite treats are and offer them To him through the bars initially as well as doing passive bonding work. When he’s a bit more comfortable you can start target training! I have lots of videos covering bonding, training and diet that may help!

If you have a flock of green cheeks and let's say you work 8 hour shifts, can they be happy that way? Or do you recommend not getting them unless the schedule is more open?

If you mean crimsons specifically and they have plenty of company in the form of other birds then you could get away with it more. If they are alone it’s not ideal!

My home is ruled by a crimson bellied conure 😂 (only joking) I can testify that they are easily excitable and that can lead to nipping. Cuddly, yes absolutely. Talkative, yes constantly. Water loving, oh you bet they are (belly flops in the sink kind of water loving) 😂
