Thanks John for another great review. Got the Croc 125's in the mail. First impression is a quality product and sharp out of the box. I stropped one on leather and it didn't take long to put a nice sharp edge on it. Anxious to see how they fly. They spin great and seem like a very good broadhead especially for the price. I think they will do well in the field.

I am shooting the cleaver this year. They fly so well out both my setups. I did get a pack of the 125gn Crocs to play with. They didn't shoot as well for me, but to be fair I didn't spend a lot of time this year with them. The cleavers and the black hornets are flying great so I didn't need to. I think next year I am going to work with my setup to shoot the crocs. I love bigger two blade heads and a single bevel is just a bonus. Great job once again.
@eyesupoutdoors568411 ай бұрын
I also got a pack of 125s to pair with my black hornets and I could not get them to fly with each other… I think I need to tune my bow specifically for the crocs. But I have been using the black hornets for a while and won’t stop using them.

I bought both crocs and black hornets as well. Couldn’t get either to fly consistent for me. One or two shots may be good and then some would completely miss the target. Almost like the broadhead is steering the arrow. I am going to keep trying with different fletchings or different spine arrows. I ended up shooting Deadmeat V2’s since i didnt have time to tune a different fixed blade. They performed exceptionally well on my elk. I was nervous to use a mechanical but they performed well.

Got these after seeing this, thanks for the discount btw! I just tested them out. Backstory: I bareshaft nock tune all my arrows to shoot a perfect bullet hole and have never had a broadhead that didn’t fly just like a field point. Granted I haven’t tested nearly as many as you only like 10-12 since I started nock tuning. Just so happened to have a 20-30 mph steady crosswind today which only happens maybe once or twice per hunting season and if it’s blowing that hard I’m not going hunting. At 30 yards I shot a field point the first 3 shots, then these for 5 shots, and finally 3 shots some Magnus stingers with 1 1/16” cut. The results: The field points were not affected by the wind. The Crocs flew consistently about 2-3” right (with a left to right crosswind 20mph). And finally the 1 1/16” Stingers flew about 1-2” right. I pulled my target out of the wind and on the side of my house and shot to check my tune and at 30 yards the Crocs grouped right with my field points. So it seems the Crocs do catch wind a good bit! They wouldn’t be my choice if I was hunting open country out west somewhere but in the eastern whitetail woods where I hunt at they should be just fine.
@LuskArcheryAdventures8 ай бұрын
Yeah, everything is a trade-off. That extra wide cut creates a less forgiving head in flight. There’s so much more surface area for a wind to catch on it, or to expose imperfections in the bow’s tuning.
@TreyBourgeois978 ай бұрын
@@LuskArcheryAdventures yep, I decided these heads aren’t for me after further testing with no wind. Inside 30 yards they are fine but past that they start to do some pretty crazy things. One shot might be dead on, then the next will be 2” low and left then the next shot 5” right, next 4” high etc. noticed that any time my form wasn’t absolutely perfect and if I didn’t grip the bow a certain way they would hit randomly like that. Also something to note, when I would index the broadhead in line with the cock vane they tended to be much more forgiving but still random at times. I like my range to be 50 yards or less so these won’t work for me unless I’m hunting in a spot where I can’t shoot past 25-30 yards.

These are awesome heads. Have one that has been my practice and tuning head. It’s hit dirt more times than I can count, bounced off a tree killed three armadillos its dull as a butter knife but hasn’t bent or chipped. I appreciate how many arrows you have sacrificed to the concrete. I know those aren't cheap. As a knapper and Fletcher, the downfall I see with these points is that they are too wide and short. For a slower heavier (home made hardwood arrow) It needs a slender tip to break the cavitation of a living target. I know that you used super powered modern equipment. But I make my own. This is all comparison by design. Traditional materials shouldn't be designed like modern sterile perfection.

I am looking at going too a 500 to 600 gr setup. For my wick ridge crossbow. Going to have some custom arrows made. Now looking to try some single bevel broadheads. Do u think the 125 or 150 gr croc? Would fly very well out of the xbow? I am shooting a TP center punch arrow. And a TOTA 100gr vent xl broadhead. 400 gr total head/arrow setup
@LuskArcheryAdventures11 ай бұрын
I don’t think they would fly very well with a crossbow at that speed. I’d take the TOTA or a Trifecta 125 fixed gr for flight.
@georgewashington16219 ай бұрын
You can make a test arrow the way you're going to shoot this broadhead but with a field point with same weight, cut off the fletchings and shoot through a sheet of paper about 1.5-2 arrow lengths away. If you see a bad tear - fixed blade will be a bad idea. Its hard to fix arrow not flying straight from a crossbow, so if the tear is bad its easier to just stick to mechanicals or small heads. Especially if the tear is vertical.
