This movie is not a romance, don’t see it as such. This is a movie about the 3/11 disaster, the lives lost and forgotten. This is a story of healing, remembrance and acceptance after tragedy. It reminds people of the fractured Japanese countryside, and the people living there who experienced this. People who lost their families, friends and loved ones. This movie gives the Western world a deeper understanding of the 3/11 tragedy, and more importantly, a universal lesson about coping with trauma and loss.❤

I know many will say Your Name is the better film, but for me Suzume is my personal favorite of Makoto Shinkai’s movies, it just hit me more emotionally, especially during the end, the ending scene with Suzume and her younger self had me crying. Suzume is adorable, and you really feel bad her for having lost her Mother, and nearly losing Sota, and you root for her throughout her journey in this film. I’ve seen this movie three times in theaters, and while it is now available for streaming on Crunchyroll I cannot wait for the Blu-ray release.

I Agree with your opinion honestly. I Still prefer Your name because of Makoto shinkai's Words Which was so Shocking to me that it elevated Your name's Status in my eyes, I LOVE Suzume Its honestly one of the most fleshed out stories ever. But Makoto shinkai randomly quotes "Of course I'm happy when people mention his name and mine in the same breath. It's like a dream. But I know they are overpraising Your Name because I am absolutely not at Miyazaki's level," "Honestly, I really don't want Miyazaki to see it because he will see all its flaws." And "For me it's incomplete, unbalanced. The plot is fine but the film is not at all perfect. Two years was not enough." Ofcourse I LOVE Suzume for its near perfect storyline. But The fact that Makoto shinkai himself stated he Felt your name was incomplete. Changed my perception on it for some reason. So right now i see Suzume and Your name On equal level But you're not wrong with saying that Suzume is spectacular!
