Hey, it's ok. The eventual destruction of Tokyo will probably plunge the world into an economic meltdown but as long as you two get to be together, then things are fine. Right? Yeah, this is why I didn't like Weathering with you as much as Your Name. They wanted to be with each other, but chose to save everyone and run the risk of never seeing each other again.

When i decided to rewatch weathering with you, I noticed something that hit me hard, harder than the first time I watched it. When the main protagonist experienced rain in the city. That got me thinking, rain can sometimes symbolize your problems, your sufferings, and your despair. We are constantly being bombarded by these emotions almost everyday. There isn't a day that we don't experience even a little bit of these emotions. And in context of the movie, Hina was always the one who can always stop them for a brief moment in time. In life, there is always that special someone who will give you happiness amongst the sadness, light amongst the darkness, and sunshine amongst the rain.

I remember the day I went on a date with a girl to watch this film. I had planned out to confess during the film, but did not know when it would be the correct moment. Well, just at the end of the film, when there was that nostalgic music, I said, "there's something more". She answers with "what" and I said I liked her. She said she liked me back :). It was literally the best moment to say it. I found it really romantic and will never forget it. Sadly, we're not together anymore because of covid and long term relationship.

bruhh makoto shinkai makes every such a masterpiece and with radwimps music they are just unforgettable
Weathering With You and Your Name taught me the same, valuable lesson. As long as there is breath in your lungs and love in your heart, hope remains alive. Someone out there, whether they know it or not, whether YOU know it or not, needs you. They’re depending on you. And there is never a price too steep for the ones you care about. Much like Taki, who sacrificed every memory he had of the woman he’d come to love, for just a moment to say “I love you” in person and save Mitsuha from the horrifying visage of Tiamat reflected in her eyes, or Hodaka, who risked his own life and freedom on merely a CHANCE to bring Hina back from the brink, from her very essence being slowly devoured in the clouds, there is someone waiting for you to come and save them. They will fight until they have no strength left, and then they will continue to fight, for you. And you must do the same for them. A life is only worth living if you make it so. “I love you” The mind may forget, but the heart will always remember. “I want you more than any blue sky” The world could collapse around us, but as long as I’m with you, I’m at peace.

I made it past the interview and also got accepted at one of Japan's top Uni. In a few months I'm leaving for Japan to study for 4 years. "I want you more than the blue sky" Is something I would also say to my lover if the world was going crazy because of the rain, I wouldn't mind it anyways because people will be able to adjust to the madness that's going on. You don't have to sacrifice anyone's life in order to achieve happiness under the sun. Any weather, under any sun or rain, it will always be okay with someone who you treasure deep in your heart.

I just realized that the phrase "A hero is willing to sacrifice you for the world but a villain will sacrifice the world for you" depicts how Hodaka said "Who cares if we can't see the sunshine, I want you more than any blue sky!" and he stood as a villain to the world just to see her and keep her alive even while knowing the whole country/world will perish from the never ending rain Edit: Sorry for the misunderstanding but I am only pointing out how Hodaka was careless and refused to care about the flooding, I didn't mean that this was the whole plot of the movie, I just want others to dee my view about he's decision. Again sorry for the misunderstanding ^0^

I think Hodaka was not quite prepared for that decision, it is obvious that sacrificing a loved one hurts a lot and sacrificing Hina would have ended well and badly at the same time, but I don't think he is a villain. In the end, they feel bad about what happened too. well, I don't think Hodaka was happy in the end because either way, that is, sacrificing Hina or he wouldn't have gone wrong, I really don't think he's a villain, if he hadn't been totally content. In the end, on the one hand it was fine because Hina was alive, but on the other hand they both felt bad because the rain did not stop and in the end they could not do anything about it anyway it explains that Tokyo was built. about the water and that Nature was claiming what belonged to her, of course that's what I understood. I say that unlike your name he had to choose.
@inisipisTV3 жыл бұрын
Ah, but in actually it's the other way around. You see neither Hina nor Hodaka caused the rain. It will rain and flood Tokyo no matter what with or without them. Hina's sacrifice will only buy Tokyo a good weather just for a short time until another round for another vestal virgin is set up as a new sacrifice. So you see the Villain of the film is us, the people who would happily live a worry free life, totally fine with a girl losing her life as long as we get that brief good weather. Just like what Mr. Suga said in the bar of his office. The one thing Hodaka is bitter about is Hina did all this sacrifice and practically no one in the world knew,

unpopular opinion: weathering with you is the best out of your name, suzume, and garden of words. it has the best vibes for me, raining the entire time, and its main to characters are the best amungst any of these, with garden of words feeling a bit too short, suzumes main duo feeling kinda weird as one character is so much older, and your names duo being slightly under developed and their relationship being less fleshed out. weathering with you really focuses on not the supernatural things, but on the relationship between the main characters, and how much/ why they care for each other so. the last stretch where the mc desperately longs for the girl gets me every time

I've never been hit with such a wave of emotions but this movie gave me a whole new experience
Just to add a small detail, When Hina holds Hodaka's handcuffs to hold and then grab his other hand, I mean my heart just melt away seeing that fine details and top tier animation , screenplay. Ah Makoto Shinkai x Radwimps delivers the best!
