If someone is really trying to grow a KZbin channel or whatever else it is from progressing at skateboarding, all the power to them, but if someone is going for the skater boy/girl "aesthetic" and mall grabbing a penny board, it should be something that is looked down upon, not looked over because you categorised poser acts as beginners, which is probably an insult to beginners All I'm saying is, your original comment was half right and half wrong, sure it makes the video creator look bad if some kid who's trying to progress ends up on "CRINGIEST Skateboard TikToks", but I don't think he spends minutes watching every clip trying to decide if the subject is a poser or a beginner, these videos aren't perfect, there's going to be actual beginners in these videos, just as well as there's going to be actual posers in these videos Calling it gatekeeping is sometimes right, since some asshole skaters will go out of their way to bombard a beginner with calling them a poser, but how many asshole skaters have you seen? Most of the one's I've seen are purely satire, not really trying to hurt the other dudes feelings, since the other dude is probably in on the joke as well, to get a laugh out of people. Most asshole skaters aren't even good for the community, and aren't claimed by other skaters to be part of their community. @@itsjjstyles Dude I hate to break it to you but there are no "cool points" in skateboarding. We do it for ourselves, we practice tricks for hours for the satisfaction of landing them and improving. In my eyes, some kid wearing thrasher and carrying a board for aesthetic, aka "poser", is really just a fan of the sport and they aren't going to take that satisfaction away from us so why do skaters sweat it so much? The truth is that most skaters I know don't. The slim few that do tend to be young impressionable beginners themselves so when they see a video like this it just perpetuates that lame mindset. At the end of the day it's not that serious, I don't think any kids are going home and offing themselves because some loser at the skatepark called them a poser but it just annoys me is all.

penny boards arent real "skate" boards, they're cruisers, not made for tricks unlike ur popsicle board, and skating is mostly revolved around lines and tricks, not riding the wrong way round on a plastic cruiser.
