"Santu Paulo" PIZZICA si Balla con I CALANTI-Ugento in Festa

Magica Serata di Festa ad UGENTO LECCE con il famoso Gruppo Musicale di Pizziche e Tarante del Salento "I CALANTI" 01 Dicembre 2007.
HISTORY: "I Calanti" is a folk bamd born in Ugento (Lecce)in 1998 thanks to the passion for the "Tambureddhru" of five young descendants of the Colittis family, a family with strong ties with ancient musical tradition of the southern Salento peasant culture.
The band rediscovers the ancient sounds and melodies, passed down through generations from father to son, with the same love and enthusiasm of their ancestors.
Today, as in the past, "I Calanti" plays its music on traditional hand made instruments, like the characteristic "tamburello", produced by the local handcraft masters out of simple materials.
THE SHOW
The show brings together everything southern Salento culture has to offer. The typical courtship dance, the work and the love songs, the "stornelli" and the traditional "pizziche" like "Santu Paulu" "Cent'anni sale" and "Te sira", revive on stage the century old musical tradition.
Our quest for ancient songs continues and we try to spread our passion and love for the Salento musical tradition in order not to let our roots be forgotten.
