My older brother did 2 years prison and was in and out of jail 5 times. He said (and I’m saying it in my words, hard for me to word it his way since it’s rough lol) mostly anybody that steps in jail or prison their first time, it shows in their face. The shock, the wide eyes, it’s easy to pick ‘em out. By the time he went in his 2nd 3rd time he could see the ones that would last and who would break

ive only done county time but out of those who were being shipped out you could tell who was going to be ok and those that were going to have it rough. he’s 100% correct when he says that size doesn’t matter. if you carry yourself correctly, are respectful, don’t complain, stay out of shit, and know when you’re being tested you’ll be ok. if you’re constantly complaining, being loud, not showing any regard for your fellow housemates and puffing your chest out expect to be fighting a lot regardless of size.

@@ladyboywonder9139 depends, there's some crazy mf's that will fuck with anyone regardless but for the most part the op is right. If you carry and handle yourself properly 99.9% of the people will leave you alone. It also really depends where you are. A very small amount of people will fuck with you for whatever random reason they decide they don't like you, it could be literally anything like being white, small, big, not in a gang, etc. . It's such a small amount of people that you could do a multi year bit and have it never happen, but if you act a fool or involve yourself in other people's business people will come at you nonstop.

@ 8:20 Funny story, when I was going to prison for my first time (the only time I went) I was scared as hell. They only had two per cell in Tracey where I first went. I was on the bus from county jail to Tracey (intake) with about 8 or 9 other inmates going to the same place. After security check and that sh!t, they put you in a tank to wait to get booked & housed. Once I get through all the info and picture stuff (and wait like 19+ hours) they send me and a few others in a line to go some wing (I think East or West, the one on the yard side). We go down a loooong a$$ hallway and take a right, while they wait for the door to pop. They start telling us one by one which cell we're going to, the wing had a fkn metal detector you go through to goto yard, eat, or leave the wing. The other inmates in the wing were whistling at us and saying fresh fish, not something that I can recall happening in county ever. I end up getting put with someone off of my bus, that I knew from county, which I thought was cool at first, but we had no clue what time anything was, or how things worked. They pop the door sometimes and we had no clue why, we find out after a bit that they pop it for meals/yard/medical... So after a few days in there, one of the runners (inmates they just let walk around and hand people shit) comes up to my door and says hes got a package of stuff for me from one of my friends in the wing. Come to find out it was this guy that use to always try to trade me stuff for herb (Pellet guns, alcohol, video games, all kinds of sh!t), and I always did it, just because I liked being cool with everyone. So he tells me which cell he's in and tells me to look up at him, so I stick my head up and see Andrew with a bald head and just laugh, couldn't believe out of everyone I've met/helped/befriended selling, this guy would come through when I needed it the most. I didn't have anything, he gave me a bunch of hygiene, some soups, stamps/envelopes. The next day we went to yard and he told me (& my celly) how everything goes down, everything you HAVE to know. I ended up seeing him again @ Susanville, and he even got us into the same dorm. You never know whose gonna help you out in this world. I know I'll never forget it.

". Once I get through all the info and picture stuff (and wait like 19+ hours) " I never served in the military but from my research when I was seriously thinking about joining it sounds like prison intake, and processing in the military when recruits are joining have some similarities on just waiting around. Also your story is why it's good to treat people with respect.
