Absolute Edition

This slipcase edition contains two hardcover books opposed to the traditional single large volume. Total page count is 464 pages.
The 368 page Book One collects all 12 issues and have a couple pages for its Sketch Gallery.
The 96 page Compendium contains a whole bunch of extras specifically tied to the series:
- Anatomy of a Crisis
- Crisis Index
- Crisis Crossovers
- Post Crisis Events
- Crisis Aftermath Stories
- The Legion in Crisis
- Crisis 20 Years Later
Deluxe Edition

Surprisingly with the Deluxe Edition, we get a total page count of 496 pages (everywhere you see it listed as 400 pages which is strange).
The key difference in the extras is that we get History of the DC Universe as the main attraction. This is essential to the casual reader to summarize what the new status quo is post crisis. Something DC never did with the New 52.

I much prefer the extras of the Absolute edition to that of the Deluxe especially the list of alternate Earths.

Yeah, although the Deluxe Edition does contain one "extra" supplement that could be considered "essential" ( _The History of the DC Universe_ #1-2), the Absolute Edition still overpowers it in nearly every other respect, like including the two vital _Crisis Indices_ in the second volume, etc.

You're videos are awesome, keep 'em up. Only issue I can see is that sometimes it is hard to keep track of which book is which. Some more signposting in that regard would be nice. Also when you are mentioning the extras, maybe a nice touch would be to add how many pages of extras there are? All in all great stuff!

It's not like Absolute got no gutter loss at all, it's also tight book.

I agree. There is minor gutter loss on the absolute but no where near as bad as the Deluxe Edition.

Which of the two editions would you personally recommend in terms of book quality? I've wanted to read Crisis but never could decide which edition to go for.

The major gutter loss bothers me on the Deluxe Edition but right now the Absolute is out of print and going for $100+ on ebay while the Deluxe Edition you can grab from InStockTrades.com for $28. I cannot recommend going for the Absolute and paying potentially 4x more.

Fair enough. Also if i may ask 2 things. 1. What is the music during the video? I didn't notice the title in the description and 2. Which version of Sandman do you recommend, Omnibus or Absolute edition and why? I really appreciate the feedback.

The music is by Reaktor Productions and is called Wanderlust. They just have flawless music for these type of videos (www.premiumbeat.com/artists/reaktor-productions). Its worth investing every penny and worth checking out premiumbeat.com in general for your videos. In terms of Sandman.. The only reason why I held off purchasing the Absolutes is simply due to limited shelf space. Im reserving the space for other Vertigo titles like Absolute Preacher and Y: The Last Man. That said, there's nothing wrong with the two Omni volumes. Its pure quality and no gutter loss. I assume in the future, they will put out a new edition with Overture and possibly Death.

If that's the case i will go with the Omnibus editions and if they do one with Death I will pick that up in a heartbeat. Ever since i did some research on the character and her stories iI really wanted to read them. but from what i understand there are only 2 major ones outside of Sandman being, Time of your life and High cost of living.

The omnis only contents the sandman issues. The absolutes, instead, have very good extra material. And the slipcases are beautiful

Hi! Gutter loss means we lose artwork and story as the pages towards the center don't fold up to lay as flat as possible. In the example I used in this video, you can see Martian Manhunter's back of the head not being very visible to the reader.

I wouldn’t write off a Crisis omnibus as we recently got the Zero Hour standard hardcover but next year we will finally get the Omni. Given the “Crisis” Arrowverse event next year, I wouldn’t be surprised if DC puts out an Omni in Q3/Q4 of next year.

That was my original intention but I had a push before starting the channel that people want to see the books without any rants (not hear a person blabbing).
