This explains SO MUCH! As a Protestant who has been "peeking through the windows" of the Catholic Church for while, this has been a helpful explaination of everything that is wrong with the world. For so long I have been wondering why everything about the modern world seems to be in a state of total collapse...even Christianity itself. This is the reason seeking political solutions to the world's problems will NEVER work! The old saying that politics is downstream from culture is literally true. Why? The heart of the culture is the 'cultus' of the people. If you change the way people worship (the liturgy), you change the way they behave in life and the world. The communists and the modernists understood this. You must change the theology so you can change the liturgy, thereby changing the 'cultus' of the the people and their culture. When you change the culture, that changes everything about the world including politics and the state.
Thank you Fr. Franks for your passionate but clear exposition of the problem. Your talk was both entertaining and informative !

Thank you SSPX for this series and innumerable services provided to the faithful since your inception. May the Holy Ghost guide your apostolate and persevere in preserving the faith of our forefathers. Putting aside his ecclesiology, I have found the late Fr. Cekada’s “Work of Human Hands” incredibly insightful, accessible, and witty (one must laugh in order not to cry). The book is a worthwhile consideration for those without a theology background that are looking to understand the history and impact of the liturgical “reform.” This Crisis in the Church series, nonetheless, has been both broad and deep, always accessible, and more importantly: clear! Keep up the good work.

Some day I hope to go through it more slowly with a highlighter. Fr. Paul-Isaac Franks was very clear and his passion for the faith is evident. At the moment I am attempting to discern between the position of the SSPX versus the more moderate ecclesia dei view towards the postconciliar Church and Mass. I have been following this series with interest and I look forward to future episodes.

Have you seen Father Franks' excellent explanation of why he would literally rather die than say the new Mass? It is *only* the SSPX, comparing SSPX to FSSP, Institute of Christ the King and other so-called trad groups in good stead with Rome, that refuses to say that the new Mass is en par with Traditional Mass and refuses to say it period. All those other groups have put their few grains of incense to the Novus Ordo Missae.

When you know your faith, have seen several rites celebrating mass and red several historical catechisms (for example St. John Damascene from the east, St. Cyril of Jerusalem's Mystagogy, tridentine documents and the ecumenical councils' documents, patriarchy of seleucia-ctesiphon catechism "The Pearl, teaching of Alexandrian school) + new one it is easier to see long time historical trends in magisterial teaching. Things are not only Black and white. And by the way, I would say almost all the types of heresies up today you can find from St. Irenaeus' Adversus heresies from 2. century.

Great detailed video, I'm Orthodox; your channel is great. It's interesting to learn about how theology has affected the Latin Church. It's confusing and scary how a Council can just change Liturgy and belief. For the future can you discuss how it is different from classic Greek Orthodox theology?
@melmckenna4599 Жыл бұрын
Forgive me if I'm mistaken, but do Greek orthodox have their own patriarch and don't recognise the papacy?
@ElkArrow3 жыл бұрын
It's interesting that it's the Catholics who are rejecting this new theology as evidenced by the lack of attendance at the Novus Ordo Missae. Moreover, even the Protestants reject this new theology, so essentially nobody believes or accepts it. People are flocking to the traditional Latin mass precisely because they recognize that it pleases God. Lex orandi, lex credendi.
@SSPX3 жыл бұрын
I think respectfully, the new theology is essentially a subjective philosophy. So their non-attendance doesn't really mean they reject it, but they are actually following the new theology, since there's not much there to really believe - subjectivity is the name of the game. But that's just another way of looking at your point. Forgive me if that's pedantic, but you bring up a very interesting point!

+Jesus and Mary and Joseph+ Yes. Thank you! Andrew and Father Paul-Isaac Franks. We are Converts from the Church of England to the SSPX. Praise God! I am interested in etymology. The word 'Liberal' means to be free from the Divine Law of God-all the Ten Commandments and all the 46+ Commandments that Our Lord gives us in His new Holy Covenant with man. (the horoscope sign, Libra, is a pair of scale, by the way, and this signifies that the person who is born under that sign is free from God's Law and is not found wanting. Yuck!) Thou shalt not kill is violated by abortion- killing thy neighbour in the womb. Abortion today is the current form of pagan child sacrifice and the sacrifice of virgins. Pagans always have some type of human killing as part of their ceremonies. Sometimes it can be difficult to find it, but it's there. I'm too tired to think of more but there are many more violations of God's Law in the daily world. Kind regards from Chapel of Saint Pius X, Manchester, GB God bless you

If the sacrifice of the Mass in Novis Ordo contains the same rubrics for transubstantiation then it is a valid Mass. I understand the Mass requires the priest and her communicants to be in a state of grace and this gives more merits and Grace. Even if the priest was in a state of mortal sin and there is one communicant, who is in a state of grace, who prays for the priests and others, then this gives merit to the Mass. Both Masses are valid. I've witnessed the Lord perform wonders at Novus Ordo Masses. Personally, I prefer the Mass of 54 and '62. At these Masses the Lord is central and His sacrifice more visible and present to our consciousness. From the Orate Fratres to the Sign of Peace the rubrics are the same in both the Novis Ordo and the Traditional Masses.
@SSPX3 жыл бұрын
Episode 23 acknowledges that the words for Transubstantiation are the same, but that the rest of the Mass degrades the Catholicity of the Mass, watering down the priesthood, the belief in the real presence, respect for the Blessed Sacrament, etc. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nKXdl4WfarmNqLs Episode 25 goes much more into depth about how the New Mass is extraordinarily problematic, and yes, @Linda, while it is indeed still valid (you're correct on that point!) , is not even close to fitting for the proper worship of our Supreme Lord. I hope you will watch that episode when it comes out in less than a week! God bless you, and thank you for the comment!

Keep in mind that for 40 years, the words were in fact defective ("For all" for the chalice). Miracles are not a barometer of validity. Scripture warns of false miracles. If the the Novus Ordo liturgy is valid but "less than" the True Mass, then one is left with the question of whether Holy Mother Church can give us something substandard. All this is assuming that the priest is valid to begin with, which the New Rite of Holy Orders gives ample evidence to question.
@luissantiago84463 жыл бұрын
@@norbertx9415 A Eucharistic Miracle that occurs in a Novus Ordo Mass is hardly an indication of a celestial stamp of approval, nor an endorsement from on high. In fact its surprising that it's occurrence is not more frequent considering the levels and numbers of disbelievers among not only the Novus Ordo attendees, but the very priests who offer these Masses. The Novus Ordo is without a doubt, a diluted, truncated, and bare bones, similie, of the Traditional Rite, and lacks the authentic patina of true worship. The Israelites while in the desert were given explicit instructions by God Himself on how to construct not only the place of worship, but down to the very vestments, and vessels as well. They gave our Lord the best. This, in the desert!!! Yet we, who Iive in the most affluent country in the world give our Lord what? Hideous Churches. Cheap, vacuous ceremonies, with cheap looking vestments, vessels and ugly art strewn about. This is insulting, loathsome and repugnant. And this is how we worship and give thanks to our Redeemer, and our Creator? In the Middle Ages, a poor hamlet was dominated by the tallest, best looking edifice, and that was the local church. People had faith and it showed in their churches and rites. Today's churches and rites are treated like secondary footnotes.

Going to the NO mass I have learned the things this channel also talk about. This whole issue needs calming down. Though, I love history of the liturgy and I have studied different rites, historical and those in use at the moment. I wonder what you TLM extremists think about all the other valid rites in catholic church. And I wonder why TLM is under suppression meanwhile in Europe and Near East historical rites are being celebrated in their cultural places for example Mozarabian in Toledo. Unity does not mean uniformity.
