The SSPX is carrying on with what the Church has always believed and taught, nothing more, nothing less. I probably would not be a Catholic today if it wasn’t for the grace of God and the SSPX.

I do not live near a SSPX Church. I can’t travel. My parish priest is very nice but I recognize the mass is wanting. I’ve never had a really liberal parish priest. I know when the sermons are not traditional. So I am a traditional Catholic and will remain so. If I could travel to a traditional mass I would but my health and age does not permit it. I do watch the Latin Mass on the internet daily and use the 1962 missal. I will alway remain a traditional Catholic. Thank you for the talk. It helped me a lot.

We always called him Father Sherry so it's odd to read Father David. Traditional priests and laity tend to be more formal in regards to the priesthood. That being said a traditional Franciscan priest told me to refer to him as Father Issac Mary. His first names. When I inquired why he explained religious (friars and such) use their religious names. The ones they are given when the enter religious life.

My experience is that ICKSP parishes also are fully Catholic in all the ways described here. Obviously as an ‘institution’ they have had to compromise i.e., not challenging docs of Vat II. However, at the parish level the Mass, sacraments and preaching is what one would have found in all Roman Catholic parishes 75 years ago. Their US headquarters is in Chicago, where Card. Cupich has just issued the most draconian implementation of ‘Traditionis Custodes’ so it remains to be seen how they will respond. One downside to ICKSP’s ‘modus operandi’, at least here in the US, is that parish buildings are owned by the local bishop so, unlike SSPX, the ICKSP (and FSSP) cannot disobey the local bishop, or they will be expelled. Consequently ICKSP & FSSP are always ‘walking on eggshells'. Fr. David Sherry is correct: the Church has survived much worse crises in the past.

What can I do about the Crisis in the Church? Well, even though my options may be limited, I still have things that I am doing: 1- I obey the Church of all times and places. Whatever the Church has always taught is what I believe. 2- I stay connected with the Communion of Saints through the Mass (TLM Only) and the Sacraments. 3- I pray the Rosary every day, always including the intention that the good God will give His Church a Pope who will have the cojones to repudiate the Second Vatican Council and all of the wickedness that has been committed in its name. What fruits of the Holy Spirit have I acquired to assist me to remain emotional stabilized throughout the duration; 1.self-control keeps me aware of negatively charged "renegade" emotions & prevents hasty decision making; 2.faithfulness knowing Almighty God in Heaven is Infinite Wisdom & I trust in HIM; 3. Patience in waiting while working towards my salvation & praying for the conversion of sinners; gentleness to help those with anxieties & fears to trust in God's wisdom re: this crisis-we've not been abandoned by the Blessed Trinity to our own designs. What I'm trying to say, perhaps, is take the opportunity to tap into the gifts & fruits the Holy Spirit has bestowed upon you. Now is a good time to put them to good use & maybe acquire additional grace for doing it. Remember St Teresa of Avila's bookmark prayer? "Let nothing disturb you; nothing frighten you. All things are passing; God never changes. Patience obtains all things to those who possess God; God alone suffices." As well, take Fr St Pio's advice: Pray Hope and Don't Worry. Stay calm & carry on

I loved this entire presentation and all it's wisdom and if one avoids sedevacantist position, that is understandable...it is not for everyone. If one looks at orders that uphold TLM, one will find that each order has it's distinctions that mark it from other orders. For me, Archbishop Lefebvre was right on, especially in not breaking with Rome
@karinabrucker2297
@karinabrucker2297 3 жыл бұрын
However those who espouse the sedevacantist position have a full retinue to answer to anyone's objections as to their validity. They have their own Bishop, a valid lineage begun with Pius XI and cemented in stone with Pius XII. They have not recognized any Pope since Pius XII and their order evolved as a result of Vatican II when they were ministering to Northwestern US Catholics who were dismayed with the Vatican II changes whereas Archbishop Lefebvre's dismay began, rightly so, with his participation at the outset of Vatican II and how he was ultimately dishonestly treated, then excommunicated because of consecrating Bishops without the Pope's permission (can't blame him for that). Personally I am likely to be more comfortable with SSPX but I have a need to defend CMRI because they have some wonderful priests too.

She will not go to confession, she blew up at me for going to daily Mass say why are you going to church during the week - is it a Holy day? Wife wont read anything and she spends that time watching NCIS, and other TV shows. She wont sit with me to pray - its a loathesome task to pray. I am fighting a battle for the salvation of our family. Its absurd!!!! I cant tolerate the anger and hatred she has exhibited towards what she has decided (talke to a NO priest and her mom briefly) is not Catholic or that the SSPX is in Schism and we are not following or believe in the Pope…. I believe the answer to what to do during the crisis in the Church is to practice our Catholic Faith seeking perfection and to be outspoken in condemning the heresy of Modernism. We need to read what Modernism is. I highly recommend the "Catechism on Modernism", highly praised by St. Pius X. Modernism is the whole problem.

Father, I am very much disturbed and disappointed by the crises in the Vatican II Church after I learned about the Popes John XXIII, Paul VI, John Paul II, Benedict XVI, and Francis I apostasy. Then I came across the following Biblical quote that says: "And I heard another voice from heaven, saying: Go out from her, my people; that you be not partakers of her sins, and that you receive not of her plagues" (Apocalypse 18:4- Douay Rheims Bible). I also believe that the Church prohibits the private interpretation of the Holy Bible, but still I am really confused by the above mentioned Biblical quote, which seems to suggest that Catholics should avoid the Vatican II Church and its apostate Popes. Father, I don't claim to be better than the above mentioned Popes, but please help me understanding the above mentioned quote in connection with the Vatican II Church and its apostate Popes. What does that Biblical quote really mean? Thank you!

Many of the Church Fathers interpreted "Babylon" as representing pagan Rome or apostate Jerusalem. In General, one cannot apply univocally what is said of Babylon, kingdom of Antichrist, with the post-Vatican II Church (as if it were the literal and scriptural sense). It’s always a little dicey to apply texts out of context, and can be positively dangerous, when dealing with such a symbolical book as the Apocalypse. Given that only in the Vatican II church is there Ordinary Jurisdiction, to leave it ("Go out from her, my people") would mean leaving the Catholic Church, period. Apostatizing, to avoid an apostasy. Or, heretically affirming the defectibility of the Church. But this is going to be related to a discussion of sedevacantism. Van Noort (together with all pre-Vatican II Catholic Theologians): “Since Christ decreed that Peter should have a never-ending line of successors in the primacy, there must always have been and there must still be someone in the Church who wields his primacy.” The problem is that Catholics who recognize there is a Pope and Sedevacantists BOTH argue based on Indefectibility. The SSPX argues thus - The Church cannot fail to be. The church is a visible hierarchy with the Pope at the top: A visible hierarchy with the Pope at the top still exists. Sedevacantists respond - The Church that has Francis as head is not the indefectible Church, is a defected Church, since its teaching, liturgy and governance no longer lead to Salvation or are immune from error. That is why we argue rather from the apostolicity of the Church. Fr. Garrigou-Lagrange explains the note of apostolicity: “Christ willed that his Church be apostolic, namely, that it be ever the same society as that which the Apostles founded. We speak of a legitimate, public and uninterrupted succession of pastors from the Apostles, with the same profession of faith, the same sacraments, and the same government… This continuous and legitimate succession is visible, particularly as regards government, just as in civil society a continuous and legitimate succession in such or such a political regime is an observable fact. In the Church, this sort of succession allows for no interruption, which can take place through heresy or schism; namely, through separation from the supreme authority in the Church… Apostolicity thus conceived of is an essential property of the Church of Christ, because, as was said above, Christ instituted the Church as a hierarchical and perpetual society, in which authority or jurisdiction must be transmitted without interruption.” (De Revelatione, lib. 2 cap. 5) For the Church to be Apostolic, there must be a possessor of ordinary jurisdiction in the Church. Recognizing the possessor of this jurisdiction is part of remaining Catholic, in the SSPX's judgement.
