SABUDANA VADA RECIPE
Preparation time: 15-20 minutes + (soaked)
Cooking time: 20-25 minutes
Serves: 3-4
Ingredients
1 cup Tapioca, साबूदाना
2 large Potato, boiled, grated, आलू
1 1/2 inch Ginger, finely chopped, अदरक (optional)
4 Green chillies, finely chopped, हरी मिर्च
10-12 Curry leaves, sliced, करी पत्ता
1/2 cup salted Peanut, crushed, मूंगफली
1 tsp Cumin seeds, जीरा
Salt to taste, नमक स्वादानुसार
½ tbsp Curd, दही
¼ cup Coriander leaves, chopped, धनिया पत्ता
A pinch of Baking soda, बेकिंग सोडा
Oil for Frying, तेल
For Sweet Curd
1 cup Curd, beaten दही
1 ½ tbsp Sugar, चीनी
A pinch of Salt, नमक स्वादानुसार
1 small raw Mango, peeled, grated, कच्चा आम
For Garnish
Curd, दही
Red chilli powder, लाल मिर्च पाउडर
Coriander sprig, धनिया
Process
For Soaking Tapioca
Firstly wash sabudana then soak it in 3/4 cup water for 6-8 hours
For Sweet Curd
In a bowl add curd, sugar, salt, grated raw mango and mix it properly.
For Vada
In a bowl add the soaked tapioca, grated potatoes, chopped ginger, green chillies, curry leaves, crushed peanuts, cumin seeds, salt to taste, curd, coriander leaves, baking soda and mix everything properly and form a dough.
Now keep oil for heat in a kadhi and on the other side make small flat balls from the dough and make in hole in the centre of it.
Fry them in medium hot oil until golden brown from both sides.
Remove on absorbent paper to remove excess oil.
Serve hot with the sweet curd.

Hello sir, I live in Canada. My hubby is from mumbai. We recently moved here in Canada and my hubby was missing Mumbai's sabudana vada from dadar shivaji park. I tried ur this recipe and trust me it was so tasty and with just the aroma of the food in my entire house...I wish I could send the aroma thru comments but trust me I exactly did the way u showed in ur video and it just tastes exactly same as the dadar shivaji park prashant hotel vada...and u said that the ginger is optional but trust me adding ginger just took the vada to another level....thank u so much for this recipe....god bless u n plz keep making these videos

Firstly, I'm so so glad that you've started telling the stories again .. feels like life is finally returning to normal !! 😁 Secondly, the idea of making a hole in the centre of the wada (just like the medu wada) is such an intelligent idea;as most of the times the wada is not fully cooked in the centre and this brilliantly solves the problem !! I love the recipes no doubt but more than that , I love the detailing !! :-D

Ranveer what a beautiful explanation of the history of the humble tapioca in India. As a Maharashtrian I always prided myself that the sabudana vada had its roots in my state. Amazing to learn that it had its roots in Travancore, Kerala. Is baar ranveer ne zaroor bataya.

Being a malayali myself, I never knew that sabudhana is a sub- product of tapioca. Thanx a ton for imparting this information. Once in a week, we have this kappa/meen curry ( tapioca/fish curry) as a part of our menu. We just relish it. Tried your sabudhana kichdi recepie, and belive me it was yumm. My family loved it very much. My kids love it to be served with sweet curd. Now it's mandatory to prepare sabudhana kichdi once in a fortnight. Will try your Sabudhana Wada recepie in a day or two. Thank you once again for being there for us. I can sense, the ladies out there smiling, on reading this comment.

My mother used to make amazing dishes like sabudana tikki, meat currry, khatta kadhi pakoda, sambar and vada for me..and many more. I lost her in July 2020 suddenly and without warning. I have followed many of your recipes and make food for my father almost everyday. He loved her cooking and now he loves mine. All thanks to you RB. You are my guru. Hello, today we made sabudana wada as per ur instruction cum guidance from soaking sabudana (with proportion and timing as per ur guidance ) till plating the dish.... The whole journey was amazing... It turned too good, everybody liked it very much... Even I and my son had a dialogue of urs while making it i.e. 2 ishaan ke, 2 mataji ke, 2 pitaji ke, 2 dharampatnijike aur hum to aapko dekh ke hi khush ho jayenge😊....We enjoyed eating it a lot... Thank you very much..... These words are very little words to express the gratitude towards you and your family specially ur mother....

Nice ! Between 'kand' are in use in india since mythological times. Ram ji and other rishi munis of that era survived on 'kand-mool' in jungles.

The USP of watching your video is we do not learn a recipe only . But we got to know about the history of that particular dish. And the way you describe and engage your audience is out of this world.. the best chef i have ever seen under the Sun. Kudos to the good work @Chef Ranveer barar

Dear sir, i am from Germany, past few years I have been following your many recepies, your recepies are always amazing but what facinates me more is the history or stories of how some recepies came to India explained by you, i love your stories sharing further to my international friends here ofcourse with the cooked example and it has been loved always by every one. I observe ekadashis and make sabu dana wada often i love sauces with any fried stuff and in fasting i tried a sauce made with Curd, roasted peanuts and salt pepper with a hint of sugar blended in mixer :-) , always looking forward for your stories, warm regards from Germany:-)

my fav fav wada and my mom makes it so well.. i miss eating her sabodana wada... ranveer if u ever visit nashik do visit sayantara a small wada place in bhadrakali.... its very famous for sabodana wadas... he makes an exceptionally tasty chutney of peanut coconut green chillies and tamrind... u must taste and try it .. i can bet ki aap ne aisa sabodana wada kahi nahin khaya hoga... zaroor try kijiyega fir mat kehna ki humne bataya nahin🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
