Ich habe Christina Deutekom auf der ganzen Welt gehört - von der Met N.Y. über San Franzisko, San Diego, Buenos Aires, Teheran, Neapel, Rom, Turin, Venedig, Verona, Amsterdam, Zürich, Amsterdam, Wien, Berlin bis nach Sofia... Es waren alle Höhepunkte meines reichen kulturellen Lebens. Danke Christina, Danke!!!

Sad. She is much underappreciated. I saw her in Lucia with Edmonton Opera when she stood in for an ailing Anna Moffo. I remember thinking who the heck is she - I've never heard of her. She was magnificent! The standing ovation went on for many minutes. Irving Guttman (R.IP.) was Artistic Director of Edmonton Opera at the time - he brought many of the greats to Edmonton, including Joan Sutherland. Christina blew us all away!!

a few years ago I was in Amsterdam and sow and listened to an Evgenij Onegin ( very modern) ,there was no CD of C. Deutecom to buy... lot of other CD but not hers.... very sad...

Well, then probably you went to the wrong shop! I advise you to visit Concerto in the Utrechtsestreeet (near Rembrandtsquare). I worked there for many years and I am sure they have Deutekom cds!

I love Deutekom, but I've noticed something about her... when she sings legato coloratura passages, she's not all that accurate. Whereas, when she uses her glottal technique, she hits all the pitches. It's like that's the only way she can do it.

The recording doesn't do her voice justice. I thought technology was better in the '80s.

In some parts she is even better than Maria Callas due to not crooning

I like her better than Callas. I think Callas is a lovely voice, no mistake. However, Cristina has a surer hold on her voice for some reason. That's what it sounds like to me.
