I had the honor of meeting Jeff backstage after a show in Italy while I was stationed there in the early 90s. Very gracious, very humble; just a straight up nice guy. He didn't have to talk with us (there was a half dozen of us from post who went to see his show) but he hung out and chilled with us for almost 45 mins.

I really hope Jeff made it in to Canada's Walk of Fame as he certainly deserves to be. I was very fortunate to be able to meet Jeff. It was post-gig back stage on Friday 5th April 1991 at the Regent Theatre in Dunedin, New Zealand. As I am a hemipelvectomy (left leg amputee at the highest level) as a result of my near-death motorcycle accident on 27th April 1990 aged 26 in New Zealand, I already loved Jeff's music, and desperately wanted to meet him. At the time my girlfriend really had to pull some strings hard so that I had the opportunity to meet Jeff, and I was just so pleased, actually thrilled to bits, I got that opportunity. Jeff opened the door to his room back stage and we greeted each other and talked briefly. What came across easily to me was his so far laid back nature and awesome wit and sense of humor. We told each other jokes about us with our disabilities and cracked up. I informed Jeff I knew about legendary Canadian amputee Terry Fox and his phenomenal east to west cross-Canada Marathon Of Hope run in 1980. I then informed Jeff that I too was an athlete (both able & disabled) and that I was in training for my first half marathon using crutches on my one good right leg coming up later in April 1991. I went on to complete 6 half marathons and 6 full marathons on crutches from 1991 to 1998. In 1994 I became the World's Fastest A.K.A. (above knee amputee) using standard hospital issue crutches on my one good right leg over the Marathon in Christchurch, New Zealand in a time of 5 hours 58 minutes 13 seconds - my time remained unbeaten for 19 years. However I paid the price for such demanding physical performance and in 2010 I had my good right leg hip joint replaced. The connection between Jeff and I felt as though I had known Jeff all my life. I informed Jeff my favorite song from him was his cover tribute, 'Yer Blues' from John Lennon & The Beatles. I just love Jeff's version. We wished each other well and bade our farewells. I have never forgotten meeting Jeff Healey. I could feel his incredible power and strength. He saw through all of me.

I'm an Egyptian who loved Jeff for his music , and I am sorry that he passed away so young , and that he could not see his beautiful wife and children . Now that I have been told more about him as a person , my admiration for him has increased considerably. Its enough that he is loved and admired well beyond his family and his country .

Jeff was all that Cristy says, and more... I had the pleasure of spending numerous Sunday nights with Jeff at the old Upper Lip on Yonge St. in the early 80's at their Sunday Night Jams. Beyond being a great musician even then, Jeff was, and is, one of the nicest human beings I've ever met. There is no level of musical or humanitarian award I'd hesitate to nominate Jeff for. He will always be missed.

Loved his playing. Lucky to meet him a few times in his great club. Going to Toronto is always great but Toronto was going to Healy's and seeing some great music and maybe seeing him sit in became what made that town so special to me. Jazz to bluegrass he would kick ass. Always a great guy to talk to about guitar. I'm from the USA and I love Canadians and their Canadian pride. They always treat me like a guest but the place just isn't the same since Jeff passed on. Love you Jeff.

I was in a club in Toronto in the '90's and was listening some killer swing jazz guitarist and a piano player. I was watching the guitarist stand on the bar and rip an amazing solo as I was sat beside the pianist who was accompanying this guitarist beautifully. When the guitarists solo was done the pianist grabbed a trumpet and played a solo on trumpet whilst accompanying himself with the other hand on piano. And lo and behold this jazz pianist/trumpeter was Jeff Healey!!??!! I was sat next to him the whole time and had no idea. He never sang or played guitar but he made some beautiful music that night and I swear half of the people that night didn't know it was him. I thanked him for the notes. He was a classy dude and what a talent!! Rest in Peace Brother Jeff.

He was MAGNIFICENT!! I saw him back in the 1990's here at the Christchurch Town Hall (had some of the best acoustics in the world) Christchurch, New Zealand, and was on the left balcony, looking right down on the stage. We could see everything that he was doing from the side, above stage level, and the sound was just as good!! It was probably the most incredible concert I've ever been to - and I've been to a LOT!! He could play things that normal guitarists couldn't reach or play because he was playing the Strat on his lap - and then he'd get up and dance around with it!! One of the world's greatest rock musicians, taken from us far too soon!! RIP Jeff.

@@blackheart5379 sounds like you are talking about barbecue sauce to me. It all taste the same. Maybe he wasn't intimidated but I guarantee you, other than his brother, Jeff Healey got his respect.
