Jeff Healey, Lost Film From 1983

From my 16mm archives - I found this lost interview and performance by the late Jeff Healey with a group of his high school friends in a Canadian educational film about careers for kids graduating high school titled "Making It Young". The film explores many young Canadian people who are making their careers happen while they are still teenagers. I transferred this reel with my own Eiki Telecine. Enjoy!

He had a show on CBC called "my kind of jazz" it was on the jazz recordings of the 1920s. Great show. Bringing back a lot of memories.

He seems so mature for high school age. I loved him in Roadhouse. He was dripping with raw talent and he was an incredibly genuine soul. 41 is way too young. Im 42. They say only the good die young. I lost losts of friends to drugs and wrecks. He seemd like an angel on Earth. He was def 1 in a billion.

Thanks Fran. Being a big Jeff Healey fan and being lucky enough to own a few records of his this was very interesting. World class player and the clip of him playing with Sass Jordon (a fantastic Canadian rock singer) and another with Stevie Ray Vaughan are both epic.

I saw Jeff Healey in my hometown Vercheres, Quebec in the ‘80s. It was incredible! All my band at the time went to his show (in the local bar) and we were flabbergasted by his talent and his technique. A musical giant! So sad he passed away so young. But he left an indelible trace in our memory.
