My general thoughts on Star Wars. Everything Lucas was directly involved in making is Canon (first 6 movies, Clone Wars TV show) and should be viewed (ok, the full CW show is a huge amount of content and likely beyond most reaction channels, but it adds so much depth to the story and that time period). Everything else isn’t canon and is basically professional fan fiction. There is a lot of great stuff in there and there’s a lot of junk (both from Disney and when Lucas was still at the helm). Heir to the Empire is fantastic but came out a decade before Lucas introduced clones to the canon. The clones in that trilogy are so different than anything in the prequels that can’t make it work in the same timeline. Some of the stuff back then, and now, are great. A lot, not so much. Lucas created the sandbox (and a lot of movie making tools) with these six films. Then, everyone was invited to play. Aside from the first six movies, enjoy what you like, and ignore what you don’t. Are there flaws in the Lucas films? Sure (let’s just say he should never pen a romance novel). But, Jake Lloyd was great in this film. Jar Jar was a misstep (but the actor that portrayed him is phenomenal). The prequel story arc is amazing and adds so much to the original trilogy. I don’t care for the sequels, but my main gripe is that they are labeled episode 7-9. The 6 core films had one cohesive story arc which doesn’t carry on into the sequels. If they had them listed as their own trilogy, I would have enjoyed them a lot more I think. Hope you enjoy the prequels. They have aged quite well over the years…

In Attack of the Clones, Padme’s ship, Dexters Diner, the buildings on Kamino, the Clone observation tower, the arena on Geonosis, etc were all models. In Revenge of the Sith, the sinkhole on Utapau, the Kashyyyk trees, the lava flows on Mustafar, were all models, and most of the lava you see shooting up into the air is actually footage of a real volcano erupting that the crew was able to fly out to and film. It’s crazy to me that so many people complain about the “over abundance” of CGI in the prequels when they ignore all the truly great looking model work. The shots they’re in look so great and real that you don’t even notice them, they just blend right in. And tbh I only have an issue with a handful of the cgi shots.

The start of each movie has that startling effect because it starts immediately. Industry rules require the production studio to get credit, among many others before a title can be shown. When Star Wars went for this powerful impact, they had to pay a large fine/penalty. It's a dumb rule, even if the people who made the movie possible deserve credit. The wild success of Star Wars should have taught them that getting the title out there up front and allowing credits only at the end can actually make for a better movie, where we aren't distracted by names and company names popping up in the movie and messing up our experience. As for Liam, he has a particular set of skills that makes him very formidable.

Where do they go?….. those are people that made Pixar….. that’s why when Pixar put out toy story and finding Nemo that’s why they were awesome at the very beginning….. why because they were all the people that have been doing special effects and a very high level for a very long time….. electric light and magic…. That’s the name of the company that George Lucas had to do his special effects for Star Wars … they became Pixar👍😎

The unique reason why Qui-Gon didn't sense danger from Anakin because he was planning on training him. And there was no warning from the Force to him because Anakin's future would've been different. The song playing during the fight with Maul is called "Duel of the Fates"

(Still in intro)- cute drawing of you! Release order and you will be ok. Things happen in order of being created, then inserted appropriately for audience/ us. If you go in actual timeline chronologically then it won't be entertaining or interesting, like if you look at the solution to a puzzle or magic trick first, the magic is gone. (Also Nothing can prepare you for the holiday special, if you can watch it without a break you are amazing) On to reaction!

One thing that always blows my mind is the sensor used to record this movie was the same size as the cheap point and shoot cameras today for less than $100 these days. Obviously the lenses were better but knowing that the cheaper cameras we have today have better sensors in them is crazy.

In the lore of legends, it's explained that there was a sith (I can't name him for spoiler reasons) That wanted to create a being of pure evil, from only the force. His apprentice (also can't name) broke his ritual, and in an ironic twist of fate, made Anakin a being of pure good.

Good job on catching the Padme & decoy swap right away! Most people take until the reveal to figure it out.

That lil drawing story at the begining was top tier hahaha 10/10 Ps. Btw if you have Steam or a Switch, you can buy Episode 1: Star Wars Racer for like 2 bucks, its a racing game like Mario Kart, but with Star Wars and these pods, very fun even by today's standards

Star Wars: The Phantom Menace was a good start to the prequel trilogy. I was someone who wasn't sure about it/didn't like it when I saw it for the first time in the theater. But as time went on and I matured I started to love it.😊

May the fourth be with you, and your Star Wars adventure. Two movies after episode three you should watch "Solo" and "Rogue One" than proceede to VII, VIII and IX. Great reaction on the origin in that order it puts the story together.

when my dad went with me to the movie. he told me the pod race highly reminded him of the chariot race from ben hur 1959, i later went to watch that. and sure enough , lucas defintely drew inspiration fro it

The Queen (Natalie Portman)’s body double is played by Keira Knightley. In this movie Natalie is 18 and Keira is 14, the funny story is that the costume department did such a good job of making them look alike that their own parents couldn’t tell which one was Keira and which one was Natalie.

It's really refreshing seeing someone just enjoying Jar Jar Binks and the gungans. Back in the day they were not well received, with a lot of fans calling them kiddy and cringy. Just being able to see someone enjoy them for what they are without any of the baggage from the last 20+ years is really wholesome :)

Hey, Cristy! This movie is a mixed bag but you appreciated its finer qualities and made some astute observations! You knew who Obi-Wan was right from the start! Congrats! A lot of reactors miss the name-drop and don't realize who Ewan McGregor is until halfway through the movie! You were aware of the decoy swapping but didn't recognize 14-year-old Keira Knightley playing the decoy Sabe! The decoy tactic was a security measure against the Trade Federation; Portman was herself when performing her duties and while on Tatooine but concealed herself whenever she was in transit and exposed. The Emperor's name was never mentioned in the Classic Trilogy and only viewers who had explored the Expanded Universe of comics, novels, video games and action figures knew his surname. This is the time of the Republic and the future Emperor is operating in the shadows as a hooded mystery man. Lucas provided multiple visual and vocal cues as to his public identity to clue in audiences before the BIG REVEAL! The prequel films are overly reliant on CGI which forced the cast to work with green screen backgrounds resulting in somewhat stiff performances from otherwise highly accomplished actors like Liam Neeson, Sam Jackson and Natalie Portman. Lucas also wrote the clunky screenplay and has admitted he is far from a deft wordsmith. However, Lucas had complete control of these films and there is an internal consistency and scale of ambition that the more recent Sequel trilogy lacks. Many who grew up with the Prequel trilogy love it as much, if not more, than the Classic trilogy. Judge for yourself. Any species can become Jedi or Sith if their midichlorian count is above a certain threshold and they are trained as evidenced by the VARIETY OF SPECIES on the Jedi Council. Without training, one is just Force-sensitive. Below the threshold, one is a low-level Force-sensitive like having an especially keen sixth sense. Below that, you're a muggle. Lol. Light saber colors denote various attributes. BLUE denotes martial skill and are classified as GUARDIANS. GREEN denotes wisdom and are classified as CONSULARS. YELLOW denotes justice and are classified as SENTINELS. ORANGE denotes pacifism and are classified as NEGOTIATORS. PURPLE denotes a willingness to access the Dark Side but temper it with Light striking a delicate but potent balance and are classified as ARBITERS. RED denotes corruption since the kyber crystal is cracked and are classified as DARKSIDERS, INQUISITORS or SITH. WHITE denotes a deep Force connection that is ideologically neutral wielded by AHSOKA TANO post-Clone Wars. BLACK is unique to the DARKSABER crafted millennia ago by the sole Mandalorian Jedi in history, TARRE VIZSLA. Jar Jar Binks is probably the most absurd character in all of Star Wars. He is almost universally reviled. Fortunately, you don't see much of him beyond this movie. The poor actor who played him, Ahmed Best, suffered such a professional and personal backlash for his portrayal, he became suicidally depressed requiring an intervention by Lucas himself. He has since made peace with his Star Wars past, thankfully. Jeez, what was George thinking? Poor Jake Lloyd would have appreciated your appraisal of his performance. He, too, was ridiculed for his portrayal of young Anakin and so badly bullied in school that he dropped out. He turned to drugs and has been in and out of trouble with the law his whole life! You wouldn't know it from the film but Anakin RESTORED a discarded C-3PO. He didn't actually create him. The protocol droid is already a century old by the time Anakin begins tinkering with him. The two droids are meant to be the witnesses of the saga and appear in eleven of the twelve films. Lucas got the idea of servant witnesses from the Kurosawa samurai classic, "The Hidden Fortress". Anakin is the product of a virgin birth like the Christian Jesus. Shmi tells Qui-Gon she became pregnant without a lover. In truth, the Force itself -- the universe as it were -- created her son. Who knows? Lucas decided to get metaphysical. It's kinda like Nature restoring balance. It's also kinda weird. "Clone Wars" explains more. The Sith are Dark Side Force-users who are the ancient enemy of the Jedi. The Emperor and Vader were Sith. There were once legions of Sith but then a fellow named Darth Bane instituted the Rule of Two 1,000 years in the past. Since then, it's been a Master and an Apprentice jockeying for power and supplanting one another. Midichlorians are based on real-world mitochondria that exist symbiotically in all our cells with their own DNA. As you might remember from high school bio, they produce the energy that powers our cells. In Star Wars, they are microscopic organisms that exist symbiotically within all living beings. The greater the number, the more one's ability to tap into the Force. Lucas was just establishing a biological basis for his space magic. Some people hate the idea. I think it's cool. Jedi are trained as early as possible and removed from their families so they develop no attachments other than to the Jedi Order like the Ottoman Janissary Corps. Anakin already has emotional attachments which will cause him all kinds of trouble. The Jedi practice this to temper emotional outbursts and prevent any compromise to the psychically powerful adepts who constitute the Order. An uncontrolled rogue Jedi is like an ambulatory nuke! You probably wondered about the efficacy of the Gungan shields since the droid troops marched so easily through them! Shields have different properties in Star Wars. The Gungan shields are likely impervious to fast-moving objects or objects with a high energy yield such as cannon blasts but are completely permeable to slow-moving objects or objects with a low energy yield. Maul is the coolest villain. His species is called Zabrak. Their homeworld is Iridonia although Maul was raised on Dathomir, home of the Nightsister witches. The red and black coloration are facial tattoos. Everyone's jaw dropped when they saw that double-sided lightsaber in the trailer! The animated "Clone Wars" honors this worthy antagonist and reveals much more about Maul!
