Correction: I meant to say that "Altered States" is directed by Ken Russell.

Love the Big Chill, so glad its in the Criterion Collection. Also for William Hurt recommendations, just watched him in a film called Dark City. It’s a sci/fi noir film, directed by Alex Proyas. Love the channel Dave, keep up the good work!

I got to buy The Big Chill for the Criterion sale from last November. I really like Lawrence Kasdan's intimate dramas, and he works really well with actors. My family loved watching The Doctor growing up; Elizabeth Perkin's supporting performance is also a real standout in that one.

Hi Alex. I totally agree with your thoughts on Kasdan, really well done dramas. Thanks for watching and commenting.

Love his performance in Children if a lesser God. He was so sensitive and brilliant in his natural interaction with deaf people.

Great idea for a video, Dave. I too was saddened by the passing of William Hurt---way too young. I'm a huge fan of The Big Chill and the soundtrack. I've also seen it many times but your video caused me to grab it from the shelf and I'll be watching it soon. I thought The Doctor was also a very good movie. Another one I like him in that badly needs a Blu-ray release is, The Village. I've always thought that was such a good underrated movie that doesn't get much attention. He was one of those actors that's consistently good in his films but didn't seem to be talked about as much as some others. I'm going to have to go through my collection and see what I have. Broadcast News is well with the pickup. Hope all is well. 😎👋👋

Hi Stephanie. I really enjoyed my last rewatch of "The Big Chill". It really seems to hold up after all these years. Thanks for recommending "The Village". I noticed that it's on Amazon Prime now so I've added to my watch list. I love "Broadcast News" too and it's on my wish list for the next Criterion sale. All good here and hope you are doing well too.

‘Gorky Park’ is really good.

I must confess, I've never seen it! I avoided it at the time - but I don't remember why! My recommendation for a Hurt movie would be "Body Heat" (1981) that you mentioned. One of the best neo-noirs, and Kasdan's directorial debut. It makes me ill when I realize I saw it over 40 years ago, however! LOL!

Hello. Oh yes, “Body Heat” is a great film. Can’t believe it’s been 40 years since I first saw it too. 😀

The soundtrack and cast of ‘Big Chill’ is one of the best movie combos of all time. William Hurt - the 1st movie I saw of his was ‘Children of a lesser god’. If you haven’t seen it, ‘Broadcast News’ is great. Highly recommend it. I recently re-watched ‘Dark City’. It’s not a flashy performance, but that’s the last movie I watched with him in it. I’d like to hear your views on ‘Princess Bride’ if you haven’t already done so in another video. -cheers Dave

Hi Robert. Oh yes, I remember liking "Children of a Lesser God" also. "Broadcast News" is fantastic! It's on my list for the next Criterion sale. Thanks for the recommendation on "Dark City", I will definitely check it out. On your suggestion, I rewatched "Princess Bride" last night so will have a video up soon with my thoughts. It's a film I've seen a few times but definitely enjoyed watching again last night. Hope all is well.

@@CinemaDaveMedia Princess Bride holds a special place for me. Along with the movie I loved the music by Mark Knopfler, my favourite guitar player. My wife walked down the isle to the theme.

@@Bob-Savage Yes, I love the movie. I also am a big fan of Knopfler and Dire Straits (Communiqué is one of my favorite records). So cool that you were included the theme in your wedding. I'm working on a video for this one which I hope to be up soon. Thanks again for the suggestion.

I hope you don't mind me saying but you look like a huggable Logan Roy. I love a good review and reflection. A great tribute to a wonderful actor (William Hurt) who brought something interesting to every role he tackled. Captivating actor across so many different genres and styles of film over many years. A History of Violence is a great Cronenburg film and even though he only features in the last act of the movie, WH gives a film stealing performance with gravitas, hilarity and yet still grounded. Thanks for the video.
