Thanks, will definitely do a film books collection video. I love my TCM books and wish I had more biographies (any recommendations would be great). I used to read more biographies (actors, directors, etc) when I was younger but haven't read one in a long time. Jessi and I really enjoyed The Batman though it's very dark visually and thematically. The Penguin is well written with many surprises (so far) and nods to The Godfather and The Sopranos.

We arrange our boutique Blu-rays by label, each label in alphabetical order. Then, all the 4Ks are together sorted alphabetically and finally standard Blu Ray by themselves, again alphabetically. We don’t do horror at all besides some John Carpenter and old Hammer films that my husband has. We did watch The Dead Don’t Die at the weekend which was excellent, but more of a Jarmusch does parody horror Shaun of the Dead style. We’re going to fill Shocktober with dark comedies (DarkComTober?) while looking forward to Noirvember. Regarding Star Trek, again that’s hubbies department, as is The Last of Us (playing, not watching). Like Jessie, I just have a Switch. The weather’s been wet and cold here recently so we’ve having warm stews, curries, and hot and spicy dinners. Best wishes and I hope you both and have a great week.

Glad you enjoyed The Dead Don't Die. I have Kino Lorber and Warner Archive titles in alphabetical order and my Criterions are in spine number order but everything else is a mixed bag (director sections, genres, holiday films, etc). Finding films (which really doesn't take me long at all) is fun and keeps me at the shelves longer which I love. We are watching lots of older horror films this year or horror comedies. As I get older, I'm not watching as many horror films (at least in recent years). I am usually watching Star Trek TOS at night these days and Jessi is using her Switch. She likes Spiritfarer, Zelda (Breath of the Wild, Tears of the Kingdom), and Stardew Valley. Also, we both like playing Overcooked, No Man's Sky (though haven't played too much) and Switch Sports (we tried basketball today but love tennis and bowling). Do you have any favorite Switch games? I think the oddest thing about your Horror movie library is that you own "Exorcist II: The Heretic" but none of the other movies in that series.. I'm not knocking "Exorcist II" in fact I love John Boornan's trippy and dreamy visual aesthetic as well as the dreamlike Ennio Morricone score.. Not to mention, Linda Blair has never looked so beautiful as she did in "The Heretic.." no longer a kid, but still with the straight 70s hair she had before the 80s came around and turned her hair into a loaf of bread.. . I just found it strange that you don't have the original "Exorcist.." It's a true masterpiece... I was also surprised that you don't have the original "My Bloody Valentine," one of the best and most atmospheric of the early 80s slashers.. I remember what a huge deal it was when they finally released the film with all the gore scenes restored.. Horror fans waited 30 years to see that one! Lastly, might I recommend my personal favorite American "giallo" from 1976, "Alice, Sweet Alice...." I believe no horror movie collection is complete without that seminal horror flick..

Wow, what an interesting week you both had. I simply love the look at that BBS story Criterion box set which unfortunately we don’t have here, but we do have some of the individually released titles. Five Easy Pieces is an incredible film and one of our favourite Jack Nicholson movies The Last Picture show on the 4K Criterion disc is also quite special. We also have Easy Rider which we still haven’t watched yet. I don’t think I’ve ever started AND ended a week with pizza or any one thing now that I think about it. I get too bored having the same thing which is what always me keeps me interested in cooking as I get older. With regards to cooking shows, are you familiar with The Great British Back Off which is a long running and enjoyable series here. We feel the same as you regarding AI and the future of film making. Honestly, although it’s also not for us, we think that AI will kill great cinema. Yes, as Jessie said it has its place, the problem is that studios will always take the easy, and potentially cheaper solution, and use it across the board with as much as they can get away with. Like you, we are fans of films that feature great character development and with AI, just ask yourself the question, how can you achieve great character development when there’s simply no real actors in the film. You simply take away everything of value and humanity. An early example is with special effects that you touched on. Practical effects always felt incredible because they were really making the impossible possible. The carrier of say Rob Bottin is a prime example. CGI Special effects became over used and we can see the same happening with AI, unfortunately. Have a great week, hope Jessie is feeling fully recovered after her jabs.

Hello and thank you so much for the comment and thoughts on AI in film. It will be interesting to see what happens in the future. @@CinemaDaveMedia Regarding AI, I thought you’d like to read the article on The Hollywood Reporter news site: James Cameron Joins Board of Stability AI in Coup for Tech Firm The director says that “the intersection of generative AI and CGI image creation is the next wave” of film technology, as he joins the company behind the popular Stable Diffusion AI model. Film Threat YT channel are discussing it. Honestly, it sets such a dangerous precedent for future film making, which is already in need of a shakeup. We’ve been doing the same with newer films and reach the same conclusion. I mean, what’s the point of ‘trying’ when we only have a limited amount of time to enjoy what we watch. Modern Indie films can be a breath of fresh air, but unfortunately decent ones are few and far between. Enjoy your weekend, both.
