November! A day late and I’m a few dollars short, but what the hell it’s the Barnes and Noble’s Criterion Sale!! I did as I wish, and on day one I picked up the 4K release of The Princess Bride. 👸

Thanks for all the recommendations. I still need to watch a bunch of those. I went to B&N Monday night, and picked up four titles - The Servant, Akira Kurosawa's Dreams, Nanny & Y Tu Mama Tambien. This store didn't have the biggest selection, but thankfully had those four from my wish list. A satisfying haul.

Some great selections there Nathan! You may have swayed me to check out the Koker trilogy, although I wasn't as blown away by Kiarostami's Taste Of Cherry like a lot of people were. I would also recommend Paris, Texas. What a stunning film that is!!! The Seven Samurai edition is also a set worth picking up.

Some great picks and a couple I still haven't seen yet. One I would recommend that I don't hear many people talk about is Marketa Lazarova. It's a Czechoslovakian film made during the Czech New Wave era but it doesn't feel like anything else I've seen from then. The run time may turn off some viewers but I think it's completely absorbing. It has stunning photography, great imagery and while it's sort of confusing, I think the immersive experience it creates helps pull you through the moments that are maybe hard to follow. I won't be picking anything up this sale because I spent $400 during the last sale, haha. If I could, I would spend another $400 easily.

Awesome choices Nathan; I absolutely love ‘Andrei Rublev’; I watched it for the first time back in July and absolutely loved it; Tarkovsky could well be on another day my fav ever director and even for ‘Stalker’ being my fav film of all time alone! ‘Roma’ is fantastic mate; great film from 2018. Love ‘Moonrise Kingdom’ aswell and definitely one of my fav Wes A films; amazing stuff! ‘Parasite’ is one of my fav films of all time and well deserving of ‘Best Picture’ 😀🏆🍿🙌

@@blu-rayswithnathanjones You’re welcome! I did end up making my big sale purchase. I chose Following, Merry Christmas Mr. Lawerence, Lost Highway, The Infernal Affairs Trilogy, and Parasite. All of those are blind except Parasite.

I walked with a Zombie and The Leopard Man by Jacques. Tourneur are also very evocative and atmospheric. Also, Parasite is very well known but a film in a similar vein called Shoplifters is ignored

I picked up the new release of “The Others”. It’s a great ghost story, impeccable acting all around, and my brother and I bonded over it. 🥺

Love your list! My only complaint about Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence is that there are no subtitles included in the release. Great film regardless.

I’m sorry but I don’t find any Wes Anderson film “up its own arse” but I do find that from Criterion collectors who continually put world cinema on such a high pedestal. Sheesh!
