Just found out about and bought Daisies the other day! Awesome stuff. Got a few things this month also like Ashes and Diamonds and the Koker Trilogy. Going back soon for Roma (Fellini) and hopefully Certified Copy.

I just bought Cure which I'm super excited about but never seen. I also got On the Waterfront, Eraserhead, Parasite, In the Mood for Love, Eve's Bayou, Revanche and Walle/Malcolm X (those two later in the month).

The B&N Sale for me so far has been surreal. I tried ordering online originally to pick up in store and the payment never went through due to a glitch. Eventually I decided to go in and get the titles myself. Ended up going to two different B&Ns to get what I wanted. Here's what I picked up: 1st Store Cure La Llorona 2nd Store Daisies Eve's Bayou I also pre-ordered The Power of the Dog, The Infernal Affairs Trilogy, Wall-E and Malcolm X. I am on the fence about getting the Ingmar Bergman set. I've gone back and forth on it and what's holding me back is the fact that I own a little more than half of the films in the set. Yet it is tough to pass on. This is the same issue I ran into with deciding on the Fellini set which I have nearly all of the releases for. For the Bergman set it is a coin flip a this point.

I would say this B&N sale feels surreal to me as well. Daisies and Eve’s Bayou are both excellent editions. I need to watch my copy of La Llorona. That is a difficult decision on the Bergman set given you have a number of the titles as separate editions. It is a fantastic set and if one is inclined to get it a sale would be the time. One could sell the individual editions online potentially.

I’m so jealous of that B&N’s Criterion section. Mine got remodeled and they shrunk the Criterion section. I got the Scorsese WCP #4 set, the Signifying Works of Marlon Riggs set, Exotica, Power of the Dog 4k, Round Midnight, Mississippi Masala, The Celebration, Eyimofe, Faya Dayi and the Arrow release A Fugitive From the Past. Everything else I’ll have to get online.

A La Llorona review would be great! Btw In Spanish, we pronounce 2 Ls next to each as a Y sound. So it would be said La Yo-rona. No worries either way, just though I should mention.

My local store has a smaller selection but they did have the 4 titles I wanted (Stalker, Detour, A Man Escaped and The Heiress), so it was a good visit yesterday. I couldn’t help laughing when you mentioned that the first you would do whenever you got a Criterion movie was to check if it came with a thick booklet. And you were disappointed when the Eve’s Bayou movie only had a foldout but you were “pleasantly surprised” because it had an extra disc that you weren’t aware of. And the second thing you do when you get a Criterion movie was to check to see where there was any animation on the menu screen. You are something else. All your actions have the hallmark of a criterion geek

Good early pickups, James. I was at B&N 9:05 Friday morning for my own modest purchases. I also picked up Eve’s Bayou, and Videodrome for a future series on Cronenberg. Lots of extras. Definite plans for buying the Internal Affairs trilogy, Power of the Dog and Malcom X later in the month.

Nice selections. I haven't seen any of those so curious what you'll think of them. I went to a B&N Friday morning and got my haul for this sale (I got a decent haul from the recent Criterion flash sale that lessened the load for this sale 🙂). My pickups were Martin Scorsese's World Cinema Project Vol. 4, Daisies, Eve's Bayou, Cure, The Qatsi Trilogy, Sound of Metal 4K and 4K upgrades for Blow Out and Night of the Living Dead. I later pre-ordered The Infernal Affairs Trilogy and Malcolm X 4K. I'll devote this month to watching some of these films along with films from previous hauls I haven't watched yet. 2 recommendations so far -- Miracle in Milan and Mr. Klein.

Hi James! Great pickups! I went to my local Barnes&Noble today and picked up Cure directed by Kiyoshi Kurosawa. It was my most anticipated Criterion release as the premise sounded right up my alley. For this sale I'm aiming for more of Criterion's back catalogue, but I am intrigued in Eve's Bayou. I had no idea the director was in The Silence of the Lambs!

Fear of a Black Hat is hilarious!! Underrated. Funnier than CB4 in my opinion. I picked up Eve’s Bayou. I also have Malcolm X and Infernal Affairs on order.

The number of titles I picked up this sale are quite small… but uh. I certainly did fork out a decent amount of cash. For my first pickups this sale I grabbed: - Cure - Ingmar Bergman’s Cinema I also grabbed the Top Gun Maverick 4K UHD Steelbook.

Here’s what I bought this week: •Rushmore •La Haine •Fantastic Mr. Fox •Y tu Mamá También •Eraserhead •Punch Drunk Love •Blue Velvet •Uncut Gems •Lost Highway •Fire Walk With Me (I double dipped on this one, I do own it but I got it signed so I wanted another one I could use to watch/enjoy) All some of my absolute favorite, I now have 16 films in the collection :) I also have to ask, what is your opinion on Pink Flamingos if you’ve seen it? Such a crazy & outlandish one I absolutely had to get it last flash sale!

I wish that I had a Barnes & Noble near me. In fact, the closest one doesn't even have a movie section. I went ahead and ordered my list: My Man Godfrey (1936) Double Indemnity 4K (1944) All That Heaven Allows (1955) Buck and the Preacher (1972) Raging Bull 4K (1980) Malcolm X 4K (1992) Eve's Bayou (1997) They (minus Malcolm X) should be here on Monday. This is a big "If", but if I have the money, I may try to get the Dietrich & Von Sternberg box set. I may just wait for the February flash sale on the Criterion site though.
