Totally agree! He's an independent film maker. Even with his Oscar nominations, he's still probably poor as dirt, putting everything he has into his projects. Until he gets a million dollar paycheck, he deserves everything he took. Thanks to Criterion for giving him this wonderful gift.

He’s right. John Casavettes was an amazing Director, particularly Love Streams and A Woman Under The Influence. He was crazier than batshit, as is Gena Rowlands, but brilliant. Rowlands remains, IMHO, one of the best living actresses never to win an Academy Award.

This comment really makes this video even more special in simply recognizing that when the July sale hits that dormant Criterion collectors thinking they'll just pick up a couple end up having a major relapse buying so many that they have to decide with shame which utility they won't pay for or which kid won't be going to college.

I haven't seen any of Barry Jenkins's films but I have to say I am insanely impressed with his tastes in cinema.
