The thing about the red lights is to just be ready to stop approaching any intersection..

Why do they call it a “critical event”? You didn’t hit anything, nothing hit you. You didn’t break any laws. What was critical? Sounds more like control to me. Shit happens. I’d tell your carrier to kick rocks.

I’ve currently got 2 critical events, both happened while driving empty both under 40mph and both were because I slowed down too fast to read a sign while looking for the shipper. Total bullshit.

Definitely easier empty

It musta been a dispatcher that made the general public believe that... I agree you can stop way faster empty then loaded

That braking question was probably written before ABS was universal like it is now. It is true you do have better traction when loaded, but with ABS it probably makes much less difference.

Your logic makes perfect sense. Think about this. Let’s say you’re pulling a pallet jack with a fully loaded pallet behind you and you have to stop quickly. It’s going to be harder and longer for you to stop that pallet with it loaded. However if it were empty, you could stop it on somewhat quickly. 😊

Dude is getting high time to get out of this industry. I’ve had no problem bringing home 1500 a week doing about 30 hours of Uber eats plus my Friday and Saturday weekend gigs. I just started a handyman business and will probably expand to pick up and clean up as well. there’s plenty of money to be made out of a truck and a much better life. It’s getting to be time. The industry is catering to idiots and illegals with more and more regulation and handholding cameras computers reporting on you. It’s BS man.

Sounds like you need a camera in the truck to clear your actions lol

Knowing that you had a light ahead of you should have anticipated the light was red! Especially when you’re coming over a hill!

They say a loaded truck will stop better because there is more traction. I’m with you I believe empty trailer stops better. Can you share what Garmin you use?
@johnboy60734 ай бұрын
The trucking industry is already one of the most regulated professions there is. And that was true before all of the electronic surveillance devices. Pretty soon they’ll regulate themselves out of business or to the point where sub-standard drivers are the standard.

If you're in the intersection during yellow and it turns red that is not considered running a red light by law

You got critical empty because the brakes are more sensitive on empty trailer, you use more brake pressure to slow a loaded trailer then an mty. And loaded trailers do stop better then mty, you have easier chance of the brakes locking up mty then you do loaded. Takes longer to stop when your tires are skidding.

Stopes faster empty on dry pavement, and faster loaded on wet pavement. I'm with you.
@meyersteamtrucking16414 ай бұрын
Does that go on your record with Prime? Reprimanding drivers for stopping for a red light is BS. That will encourage drivers to try to beat the light to avoid the critical event.

I drove from ‘02 to ‘07. My first truck was an old FLD. No question, you can stop a fully empty trailer way faster than when you are fully grossed out. I do prefer some weight while stopping because it prevents the trailer from skipping / hopping, and the trailer brakes from locking up.

I’m a rookie and a green horn. I agree easier to stop empty. Physics is physics .

Basic physics the way I understand is empty weight is better breaking. I think of having liquid on a truck is there is force that is pushing you in a breaking event load. I know you aren't pulling liquid but to me its the same principal of Weight in the box is pushing the truck which in turn increases the distance to stop. You're 100% right. Its a bad deal with the light set up on the crest of a hill with no warning the light is changing. I know I've caught my self in a 4 wheeler running or slamming on my breaks can't imagine in a semi. Like always thanks for the video.
