In the mid 1990s when I began reefer otr, it was well known that Prime LO could hardly go home due to finances.

I had the exact same experience last week at a capstone facility in Buffalo. At 7pm they opened the floodgates and trucks just POURED in and were everywhere trying to park and get in to docks at the same time. The most unorganized nonsense I’ve ever witnessed.

95%+ of truck driving jobs are 💩 jobs, that’s why you see so many Refugee foreigners working in the trucking industry they were installed by government subsidies. Truck driving jobs with mega carriers is the minimum wage McDonalds job held by adult rather than teens, horrible career choice.

Problem with having a fleet with basically all lease drivers is the company doesn’t need to negotiate a good rate to pay a truck note, maintenance, driver etc. They don’t care what these loads pay and they undercut the competition because these lease drivers are shouldering all the costs involved for the company.

Go home dude, I know you got a plan but your family needs you. No matter what the wife trys to tell you. You next road is better. This one isnt it. Your giving up way to much. I quit OTR when my son turned 1. My wife did all she could but she needed me home. Best move I ever made. Scary but best move.

Transport topics #1 refrigerated carrier by more than 2x revenue of #2 released today. Prime is rockin with zero reasons to sell and who could afford it in this market. Good video though and you are right about the wrong chatter and about privately owned. We have the best owner. Intelligent, tuned in, and cares about everything and one of his people.

Dude, fucking walk away. I’m serious. I’m letting my CDL go because I know I will never drive any kind of truck ever again. It’s a waste of life. You’re a smart guy real smart. Unfortunately there’s no value to the video stuff even my buddy who worked on million dollar movies and corporate projects and had a $20 million company has to compete with little kids making videos on their phone now. That’s where we were at. Fuck that shit. I did Uber eats DoorDash GrubHub about 30 hours a week and I played guitar on the beach. It consistently brought home 1500 and my wife brought home the same all winter we killed it. It’s easy to make 100 grand as small handyman business and you can learn to be handy. You don’t have to be some crazy level expert. You just have to be smart on time trustworthy. I started a handyman business. I’m just doing it because we are going to be on the road for a few months and then I will ease into it this winter but like I said, I still like to travel. You get NEXT insurance you use your LLC already and start a DBA under that. Facebook and google marketing a few hundred bucks Facebook ads a little video some business cards, and a business phone number , your white you’re good to go. Hang pictures, ceiling fans, fix toilets install toilets, lighting fixtures electrical outlets start out with plenty of money, especially for older people and single women. Best of all your home with the family. Just look at the economy and find a way to fill an in demand niche. And he kinda hands-on thing mobile mechanic would be great too if you had all the tools. So much opportunity out there if you wanna work. I don’t really wanna work hard, but my kids are grown. Trust me, bro trust me, bro. It’s time to hang up. It’s a race out there. Pretty soon. It’ll only be illegals working every job.

I feel you there. I keep hearing that it's picking up, but I just don't see it in my revenues. I'm seeing more freight, sure, but these loads are paying complete crap sometimes. So at the end of the day, we I still lose. I'm running harder for not even the same amount of money. It's actually less. I'm trying to remain optimistic because I just started this venture, but I'm really being forced to reevaluate my position here! And there seems to be no end in sight!

So, my trusty financed truck decided to have a meltdown in the middle of Ohio. No big deal-I just rented a car and took my dog on a shotgun road trip all the way down to South Texas. Goodbye, trucking industry! I'd rather do just about anything that’s a 9-to-5, Monday-to-Friday gig. Learning to live with less but gaining more freedom sounds like a fair trade. No more being a prisoner in a sleeper cab or turning into a nocturnal creature. Finally, I'll get some family time, work out, and maybe even take care of myself a bit. Who knew living like a regular human was an option? Chapter 7, here I come! Chapters 1 through 6 are now just scenic stops in the rearview mirror. Buckle up for the next thrilling episode of "My Life in Financial Follies!"

I should say, I'm going to trucking school soon and I'll have OJT to do, so I've been watching vids like this to learn from other'sexperiences. I don't think your experience would be something I've never seen before. I drove a taxi for 10 years, and I've had people, urinate on the seat, defecate themselves, puke all over the place, was almost murdered, asked by a customer to drive him the middle of the bridge, and almost got carjacked because I told the customer he couldn't smoke weed in the taxi. That's just a few, but yeah, I'd have asked your trainer a lot of questions, everything from his diet to his moods in general and I'd have purchased deodorant for him and called it a gift for being a great trucker. 😂 With enough grace on someone who needs it, you can change lives by taking care of someone when they never asked. Not saying you should have, but it's what I might have done. It sounds like the guy lost hope altogether.

I believe they just went through renegotiation. Also it’s possible contracts are shorter because shippers have the upper hand at moment.
