In this academic half day for critical care residents, we will cover ICU Acquired Weakness. This is a repost of the original with the sound icon removed and the sound problem at 16:30 fixed. Thanks to Oliver Surowiak for the post about the problem.

It would be great for this to be revisited in relation to a critical care Covid patient that survives.

Thanks you for the video! I have a question: is it possible to have some references of the articles you have mentioned in the lecture? I'm most interested in the one about Potassium as risk factor. Hi Anita, I looked through my folders and I can't find the original articles. I recall that the potassium idea was from a review article that is now at least 5 years old.

Is it technically easy to perform EMG & NCS in ICU, with many sources of interference? Which muscle you examined for EMG?

My husband has been in the hospital critically ill for 6 weeks he is getting better now but they have done literally almost no physical therapy even though I practically begged them to do something because he already has an incomplete spinal cord injury for 17 years he could still walk when he went in and now he cannot stand up we are hoping he can get his muscles back enough to at least move around the house etc with his walker like before. any advice other than getting into physical therapy right away?
