Matt came to the Lexington Toy and Comic Con here in Kentucky a few years ago. The main draw was supposed to be Chuck Norris. Matt was by far the most visited booth. For three days, the line to see him had to be moved to a hallway outside of the gymnasium, and the line went down one side of the hallway, which was very long, and wrapped back around down the other side. It was like that ALL DAY LONG. It was amazing!
@jacobwestfahl15102 жыл бұрын
It was a similar situation here in Sweden at Comic Con a couple years back with Matt as well, they hadn't anticipated him being as big as he was, critters from all over Europe came up and he had a never ending line of people waiting for him 3 days straight until the convention closed. The mood was incredible in the line as well, people ran out on supply runs for eachother, we played dnd, let people go for walks and come back to their spot in the line because sitting still for hours was boring and you got stiff, we got some Nintendo Switches together and played video games and made new homebrew stuff and helped eachother out with session prep and world-building. I spent an entire convention sitting on a floor, waiting in line and it was one of the best conventions I've ever been to!

Honestly, that crowd-singing intro to C2E73 is one for the books. I just hope that when the first live-stream of C3 happens, we can hear "It's Thursday Night" from the crowd, just like C2E73. I really hope that people who go to the live-streams make it a tradition with CR! But honestly, with the Kickstarter, I get the eerie sensation that when Matt asked the first time on stream, "How do you want to do this?", some Critter, somewhere out there, took Matt at his word -- and blew away all expectation. And I'm not sure which one was first: The Critter who donated a full $1,000, or the Critter who ordered pizza and doughnuts. Things like these are the reasons why I love this community, and why CR continuously puts out the positivity that is so desperately needed in the world. Because if there is one thing I learned a long time ago, it is that you never know what effect you will have on people. The ripples of choices that are made, the creativity that gets spawned, are never truly fully understood or felt -- even millenia later. There are still choices made in the past we still do not understand. As Robin Williams once said in Dead Poets Society, "All the world is a stage. And you...you may contribute a verse." Pretty apt, for a stream that continues to be humble, and who has the honor and privilege to do what they love, because every campaign they have done is a volume, every episode a chapter. And we...we are along for the ride. Where that ride ends, who knows -- but what I do know is, I'm just here to enjoy the journey. Lastly...is it January 28th yet?

Oh, the Critmas Special! I think the third one! Yeah, that was one of my favorite moments too! Matt opened the first one and his face went from shock to childish glee in about 60 seconds, but had to keep it in for a bit. I know it was a necessary evil, but it broke my heart Critmas had to end. Between it taking HOURS to open stuff up, them having to work in the morning and that, very clearly, people at their core are just… good people who want to say thank you for something they are grateful for, but it now numbering in the MILLIONS all over the world… I do believe Critters could negotiate world peace through a D&D game at this point. As long as Mercer was GM.

it's getting to see your fandom thrive; seeing that others are doing what you know you would too in that situation if you were there; knowing that everything you think about to show love to the creators are thoughts shared by hundreds and thousands and millions of other people; it's knowing that you aren't the only one that loves this fandom so very very much. You cry from joy at knowing that you aren't alone but also that the creators get to see others showing your love to them in your place. They will always know because we will always show them, whether we're all there or not. 💖

Ngl I'm glad that they get this kind of recognition because hell being in the Voice Over community you barely get recognition besides a niche fanbase glad these talented voice actors get respect after I think some of them have been in the industry for decades
@raymondfisheriii791 Жыл бұрын
Agreed. These guys, along with TAZ, Dimension 20, and a bunch of friends, not only got me into D&D, but also into looking into voice acting. I’ve always liked making characters and thinking about stories for them, the arcs they’d go on to become greater versions of themselves, how they looked, and how they spoke. And I’ve always liked doing impressions of characters that I grew up watching over and over when I was a kid, which led me to be able to come up with a wide birth of different ways people would speak, what kind of accent would they have, etc. learning about this game and that career choice has lead me to having a dream of making my own cartoon, and voicing in it. It would mainly be for the fun of it, since animation has been something that’s always intrigued me, but I don’t think I would want to make a full career out of animation. I would want to learn to animate for the joy of creation if anything else. Doing voice over I feel like I would probably enjoy a bit more as a career choice, but who knows?

So so glad they pulled through with the show. I know the cast are good people and would try their best, but obviously things happen, and I was worried things would get canceled or something, and they’d end up needing to sink a lot of the money into recovering (which of course we’d all understand). But now that the show is out, at SUCH high quality too, it’s really inspiring to be able to look at the end product and be like “yeah, you can tell 12 million went into this.”
