The card doesnt say that at all, what it says is do not draw any more cards as there are cards that make you draw more in the same pull. As for the wish idea... that card was already pulled and no longer in the deck so that could never happen.

though not stated directly, I think Wish cannot work against the will of a god; it's even stated that greater wishes have a higher chance of failing or not even working. It would have also been better thematically in the story, if Vax's self sacrifice for his sister's life held weight. Also, only the fool and jester are gone forever, all other cards return to the deck.

This was the video that got me into DnD. I remember hearing about DnD all my life, and about a year ago I heard about this concept called "The Deck of Many Things". So, in order to have a first-hand idea of what it entailed, I searched for it on KZbin. First couple of videos were lengthy lore explanations. Then there was this video playlist with a compilation of Grog's dealings with the Deck. As soon as I watched this, I was hooked. I immediately went to watch "The Search for Grog", and then started M9. Now I just started Vox Machina (currently on ep. 09). But come on! Grog pulling THE VOID on the literally the final few minutes of the LAST EPISODE of the first campaign? Ashley rolling a natural 20 to see this happening - only to immediately LOSE HER CONNECTION AS SOON AS MATT WAS ABOUT TO ASK FOR HER REACTION????? All leading up to GROG WAKING UP LAST MINUTE ON PANDAEMONIUM and then immediately deliver the killing blows to the Empyrean WITH TWO CONSECUTIVE NATURAL 20S???????? Truly, these 8 were chosen by the gods of tabletop to usher in a new era of DnD. No other explanation would be adequate.

I'm conflicted by what happened here - but in the end, I'm totally fine with it all. After all, it's their game and went a way they were all happy with. Not to mention, the chance of a Vox Machina One Shot retrieving the soul... awesome... But - What a fantastic concept for the next campaign it would have been! The body of Grog Strongjaw, hero of Emon, lying in wait for new heroes to discover his soul and wake him once more to save the world!

It entirely depends on the DM, I guess... RAW, the body simply stops acting and reacting, so you'd think that it'd still need to eat/poop/age and all of that - but I would personally rule it (and argue that it's intended) that the body essentially drops into eternal hibernation - no aging, no feeding, no pooping... just eternal slumber, awaiting the return of its soul... like sleeping beauty.

I was hoping to pull "The Fates" card. Because then he might have been able to bring Vax back from the dead. The Fates: Reality's fabric unravels and spins anew, allowing you to avoid or erase one event as if it never happened. You can use the card's magic as soon as you draw the card or at any other time before you die.

Yeah but erasing any event pertaining to Vax before Vecna would maybe mean Vecna wasn't sealed as Vax played a... Critical Role in it *ba dum tss*. And erasing that the Raven Queen took him afterwards might mean that it's only been postponed, or that he's no longer hers. Generally, beware messing with reality as you can't control the outcome, and Matt is very cluey about chain reactions.

I was perhaps thinking that If he could delay the raven queen for that 1 day by erasing when she came to pick him up, maybe after a long rest Scanlan could get his Wish spell back and use it to pay the debt to the Raven Queen as he planned on doing after Vecna. I'm probably just upset that this story is over now. But i am keen to see whats in store for the next one

It's pseudo-canon (like he said, he may or may not have been faking it for Grog's "benefit"), but they have an epic-level cleric and an epic-level druid. Restoration magics capable of regrowing an arm are not hard to come by.

@@hunterskidmore1672 It's impossible to CREATE a character with an int below 3, because when you roll for stats you have to add 3 dice. If you roll all 1s, your int can be 3. But there's no rule against magic dropping your int below that.
