Is it possible to apply critical theory on the exiting social order/existing power relations that wrongly believes that climate change is man made ?

Thank you! I figured it was time to learn what critical theory is, now that it is a bit of a buzzword out there. All other sources I tried were very unfriendly to someone with a background in the natural rather than social sciences. But this held back on the jargon and I finally have a bit of hope that I might one day get it.

Thank you, professor. This one is quite helpful. I'd like to ask a couple of questions. Can we use "mainstream theories" and "problem-solving theories" interchangeably? I'm asking this because there are some ontological differences b/w them. For example, classical realism as a mainstream theory is historical while the problem-solving theory is defined as ahistorical. So, I'm confused. Could you please clarify this?

If you want to become a useful idiot, don't just learn, BELEIVE in critical theory / Marxism. Develop a critical consciousness and you too can the newest form of fool, able to be discarded at a moment's notice.

Jesus...so many long sentences...is there any example of a vritical and a problem solving theory?

For Cox, critical theories would include Marxist and most feminist approaches to international relations, while realism and liberalism would be examples of problem solving theories. Hope that helps!
