I grew up in the organization with an unbelieving father, and some days I think the fact that my father was not one was my saving grace. My mother tried to force beliefs and practices on me, but he would set a limit. My aunt, uncle, and their children joined as well. My cousin recently married a brother that my mother knows almost nothing about and has never met, but because he’s a brother who served where the need was great, she considers him to be the most amazing man that has ever graced our family. My husband who has helped take care of her for the last 13 years is garbage in her eyes because he is not a witness. I never accepted the org’s teaching, and I will never forget her telling me she would rather see me dead than to be part of the world. The trauma is so real!

Oh my, i can relate😢 my only sister hates me because i fell out of JW, she will tell me i will continue to suffer because I'm an unbeliever, and now my life has never been the same ever since i left JW, i don't know if she is the cause of my problems just to prove that I'm being punished for falling out 😢

I definitely feel that elders, pioneers and bethelites are the ones that leave and become the activists because they know so much. I’m sure they also feel used the most. I pioneered and worked my job and had to be prepared for the meetings so I could participate and be a good example. I felt so stressed all the time. And that was back when it was 90 hours. It’s a religion where the people just give and give. It was never enough. I have the most stress free life now.

Thank you for this enlightening interview of JT and Lady C. I can relate to what JT was telling about how we were told not to go to college...and I too could have gone to college for free because of affirmative action and Martin Luther King which coincidentally right now is his holiday coming up on Monday. And being black and a JW and not allowed to do a lot of ordinary things. These were all things that were piled up against us...and today looking back on all of that. It definitely extreme organization and my mother was all wrapped up in it. Thinking that this system would end in 1975, which is when I graduated. Hindsight is 2020.

I went to a bible study on Thursday with my husband who is the "student" during which they (the 2 teachers) allowed me to ask questions. I think I asked some good critical thinking questions. Since I am upset about this teaching, I asked how they can possibly believe that Jesus is Michael the archangel especially after reading Hebrews which I read during this meeting. They defended their belief by what the GB says. I also questioned disfellowshipping and why they think Jehovah has been God's name since it was made up by a Catholic dude sometime in the 14th Century. One of the teachers was surprised about that one. I was very respectful and polite. This whole ordeal is disturbing.

You can also ask how can it be that the inspired word of God and Jesus by himself says that human history is just short over 6000 years old when there are massive archeology evidence for intelligence (human) life prior 4026 BCE? Is the bible not inspired? Does God lie through his inerrant book the bible? Is the whole book of Genesis (actually a third part of human history according bible chronology) just mythology as it actually seems? If so, the whole sinfall story and the need of a messiah is just fiction. Shall we base our life on fiction? Denying us our live now for a fictional future in a mary-go-round wonderland called Paradise with wishful thinking as resurrection involved?

Please ask them (if you have another bible study) how can Jehovah be Jesus's Father? In the OT Jehovah is seen to kill literally 100's of thousands of innocent people, he has major temper tantrums, he approves of blood sacrifices both animal and human. Exodus 13:1,2 "Then the LORD said to Moses, 2 “Dedicate to me every firstborn among the Israelites. The first offspring to be born, of both humans and animals, belongs to me.” Also Exodus 34:19, 20. Jesus was against the killing and sacrifices of animals and humans. In fact, because Jehovah was the God whom the Israelites worshipped, he had this to say in John 8:44 "For you are the children of your father the devil, and you love to do the evil things he does. He was a murderer from the beginning. He has always hated the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, it is consistent with his character; for he is a liar and the father of lies." So Jehovah is Satan. Compare 1 Chronicles 21:1 with 2 Samuel 24:1 (use bible hub to compare different versions, the NWT has altered the wording)

What woke me up was the reinstatment process. I could not get reinstated and realized how the elders made me feel and how cold they are coupled with how they uses phrases that turn out to be lies. For example, they simplify the matter and say its easy but yet say something like "more time needs to pass" And i started to think why does it take so long to get reinstated to a dam religon that does not care yet i know my personal relationship with God i had been forgiven. From that point with the help of this channel and shunning vidoes i realized more .
@feartofreedom2972
@feartofreedom2972 Жыл бұрын
The reason why they say: more time needs to pass is because they don’t want others to be doing the same thing thinking they can get reinstated in a short time. It has nothing to do with you it’s all about “what will the congregation think”.

In my experience of 35 yr+ of being a JW but somewhat faded, the problem with most JWs is that they willingly revolve their entire lives around it. They fully immerse themselves allowing the organisation to dictate every facet of their lives. In my case, i was working, so i always maintained friends outside the JW circle and I never aspired to" reach out" at all...ever. All my siblings are JWs but it doesnt bother them that i havent been to a meeting in 10 yrs. This business of telling the elders about any issue you have or hear about is part of the problem too. I would never spill my story or issue or "confess" to an elder. I deal with my own problems. I guess therefore i never imbedded myself into the organisation even when i was an active publisher and so i had no trouble fading. Im not DFed and the local elders, though they initially tried to "shepard" pretty much gave up. Which was good.

Great interview, Jack, thank you! Love JT and Lady Cee. ❤ 44:05 Group Think is very prevalent in the JW org. It always irritated me. As kids we learned real quick not to express our opinions or question things, at least not publicly. Even with my parents I had to be careful. We learned to just go along. Group Think is another one of those “cheap psychological methods” JT noted that the Borg uses on members. All cults use it.

This was a great discussion I think if you can read different sides of an argument and realise the strengths and weaknesses of your own position your on the way to thinking critically. It makes me wonder can a person think critically without humility or realisation we haven’t seen all the evidence we don’t have all the answers?

People are exactly where they need to be. Despite coming to realizations take away the good from what you've experienced. It's not all it's cracked up to be when you leave the protection and close friendship of what was your family at the Kingdom Hall and then find yourself out in the world where for some of us none of the things that truly matter exist.. There are flip sides to everything. Many people who became witnesses are having needs and for many having fulfillment of these needs far outweigh what they will gain on the outside. Be respectful of people's choices and people's differences. It's one thing to enlighten people but revelation of what's not favourable should be balanced with what is favourable. I'd sooner have a JW living next door to me than a good many non JWs. (JT and Lady Cee at least have one another, things might have been different if one of them were not in the equation.)

Wow the structure of how the organizaion controls the manuscripts of the talks is shocking and i did not know controled things like that . And the answer regarding how the GB delludes themselves it a great explination . This is classic Narcissist behavior the arrogance that they are helping people is how they feed off that and that generates the idea that they expect people to serve them. I am also thankful that you are on the Utube channel as you are one of my favoites in the ex jw community . You utube channel really handled the issue in a very dignified way. Just first class stuff.

When I was a JW bible student, I wish I asked more questions. The GB always bothered me, in that JW's were to follow and obey men. My bible teacher said they were inspired by Holy Spirit and is the reason why they had no issue in believing everything they taught. Now the GB admits they're neither inspired nor infallible and can err in doctrinal matters. If I had known that when I was studying, I may never have got involved.

I love your content and have the upmost respect for you both. I do have a question though. Being critical thinkers what is your view of Christianity in general and are you believers? I ask this because coming out of watchtower I went into orthodox Christianity but after 3or 4 years I have become an atheist or at least an agnostic as you can’t prove for or against a deity. There’s a KZbin Chanel called MythVision and after listening to PhD’s in the field of ancient Hebrew and Greek it’s very difficult to believe the context of the bible as accurate historical evidence for the existence of God. The likes of Bart Ehrman and books like God an Anatomy sealed it for me. I’d love to hear your opinion on this.
