Maybe even lethal this time….do NOT underestimate what is build here. The stress on the frame will be insane. Ripping the frame apart at high speeds can be tricky here, as no protection is present. In fact this is suicide. I raced shifter karts myself for many years, did x-cross and 26 years on Supersport and Superbikes, 10 years as a race instructor. And I can tell that you might be messing with every safety rule that applies on a racer. Hire a professional that is used to 250cc go kart racing. Talk to sidecar pilots, as they are used to deal with Suzuki race engines that are around 160 hp or more. This is serious and a warning! Do not be a fool and turn this into a disaster. Please…. Deal?!

As a machinist, die grinding the sprocket bore was triggering. 10 minutes on a lathe would give you a perfect press fit, alignment and weld prep.

Snyggt jobbat! Bra filmat och härligt med en 160hk variant. Jag byggde min R1 monsterkart 2005 och då var det bara jag och Achims Gixxerkart (i Tyskland) som hade hojmotordrivna kartar. Ja det är förgasare, min kompis sa att vi kan bygga sprut på det men har hart att folk fått det att funka bra med förgasare också så jag vet inte hur vi gör, inte kommit så långt :)

In a samall circuit, this insanity gonna be the king. 7hp karts are for kids, 18hp karts are very funny for adults, 33cv karts are insane, and 160hp eletric karts is Critical. You have the same amount of hp as a KTM Duke 1290 which is insane because the top speed of that is 169mph. I think with the right optimal gearing the top speed of this kart could go around 150mph, meaning you made your very own super kart.

Only a couple of minutes in and I'm wondering how having 2 motors will make it go faster - it's still only going to go the same speed as with a single motor - it'll just get there faster. Unless you change the gearing you'll only hit the motor rev limit which can't be much higher than you've already pushed it - or am I completely wrong?

Correct, they'll need to change the gearing for a higher top speed, but should have higher headroom due to the increase in HP. I still don't understand how dual motors/engines work in relation to HP.... like, it makes no sense to me, but it somehow always works, so it's some type of black magic 🤷🏻‍♂️

It’s simple hp means horse power 1 hp equals 1 horse 1000 hp 1000 horses so it’s easier to push bc you have so many horses more help

Foot pounds of torque is amount of power available. Hp is how fast you reach max power

Depends on how it behaved before. If it didn't have enough power to go max rpm, more power will make it be able to push higher rpm with the same gearing (go faster). If he was redlining before, more power won't make it go faster.

I Made an electric go kart from big motor margay kart. 5000w 48v 300amp limo golf kart motor. Programable altrax speed control so kinda neat reliable setup with almost no heat build up in motor , speed control or wires. It’s fast as hell with 30hp or so. 15tooth front front sprocket 56 rear and goes 50mph now. With the 33t front it went over 100mph and started swerving around the road so I slowly lifted out. I used Audi e tron lipo packs combined two 7c packs, each cell capable of 620amps! Never seen anything like these cells I have. Most I’ve seen and tested are 30-100amp burst. Think I need a brushless stark motor now. lol.

Crap you’re right it’s 7hp and 30ft torque. It’ll blow the tires off at launch then ease up making me wonder if speed control is behind or lagging with my 1200amp available battery. Like it’ll allow a burst of 4-600amps then pull back to limited 300. But yeah I goes 80easily. Big sprocket pulses until about 25mph then starts to take off and at 50-60 it’s in its most usable power range. 80+ it’s still has power but kinda sketchy at that speed. It’s an old kart and alignment has never been dialed so toe out for short course and drifting. Always awesome build it’s neat to see this new tech get played with. I built mine before all this stuff was available but am still impressed with it.

Insanity and i love it ! I think you have to gear it up through a middle shaft, then you can use 520 chain from the motors to the middle shaft and the 428 chain from the middle shaft to the drive shaft (or whatever chain and sprockets that fits the rear axle) And please dont ground your welder through the bearing.

Its winter here so I’ll hit the ice with this gearing first and then we’ll see when it clears up how it works on the dry. I’ve been thinking of using another axel for gearing but i didnt think of what you wrote: that i can use that to convert the sprocket types. That’s genius! (Or just me being slow 😂) thank you!! 🙏🏻

The old/first setup was but then with the counter weight it was pretty nice to drive actually (see the track video) and then now with the double setup its as center as possible altho a little top heavy maybe since the batteries are standing up)

Quick tip: dont put the welder clamp on the inside of the bearing. Current will flow through the bearing and might damage the bearing races or balls. That will cause the bearing to fail very quickly
