I remember this mech from MechCommander 2, used it a lot as it was what was available. Man i miss that game... It is always heart warming when I pull of MC2 mechwarriors in BTA Twitch, Longshot and the like...

Pair a Razorback with a Bushwacker as part of a lance sounds fun. I really like the post rambles.

Ding ding dong. Your Urbanmech has evolved into a Razorback.

Honestly as much as I love my autocannons I have to admit that this thing just does everything the urbanmech does but better. Sure, its more expensive, but the urbanmech's low cost isn't all that appealing when you can just get some vehicles instead for that same price.

The ramble is my favorite part. Makes it feel like having a talk with my friends.

One of my favourite light mechs. I first bumped into them in Mech Commander 2. I refitted it with a PPC and put my best snipey-boi in there (Twitch btw. Always had him as a light mech headshot specialist for some reason). It’s one of the chassis I’ve always hoped would be added to MWO.

Hello CR. Excellent video on the Razorback Mech. I have used this mech extensively in the appropriate Era(s) and I have found the original 'base' model to be the 'best' for most battlefield uses. I have, however, also 'tinkered' with the design, since I do not like the Streak SRM system in general. So, I started out by stripping that from the Mech. Since I felt a bit 'tight' on critical spaces remaining, I also changed the cockpit for a Small Cockpit, giving me on additional critical 'slot'. I then used the tonnage gained from the 'loss' of the SRM, its ammo, and the CASE to emplace a AMS into the Left torso, along with a single ton of AMS ammo. I then added two Pulse Medium Lasers. One in the head, and one in the center torso. Everything else about the Mech is 'standard' to the original Razorback's design. Including the ER Large Laser, and the total of four MGs and their ammo. I do not see the loss of the CASE as much of a problem overall, and the change of weapons seems to make the Mech more likely to do damage in most cases. The AMS is there for missile protection, since a large number of Mech types carry SRM systems. And the AMS has a good chance to intercept those incoming missiles. The Pulse Medium Lasers increase the likelihood of shots hitting their target(s) out to 'standard' Medium Laser ranges, as well as doing a bit more damage per laser. I do realize that the streak SRM is there to exploit breakthroughs in a targets armor cladding, but I feel that with the added accuracy of the Pulse Mediums, that such 'holes' in enemy armor could be hit more often than counting on a missile or two 'finding the gap'. The Mech's speed of 97.2 KPH (6-9 hexes) is sufficient to keep up with most Light Mechs, and the ER Large Laser makes an effective 'sniper' out of the Mech, while lighter units dart in to harass the enemy, or retreat under the long ranged fire of the Razorback's protective firepower. Since the Razorback has 'maximum' armor for its tonnage, it can take hits and keep dishing out the damage from range. Making the enemy fire upon the Razorback, instead of the harassing Light Mechs. And since the Razorback has about twice the armor of your 'average' Light Mech, allows it to survive long enough to get lighter, and faster, Mechs a chance to close to close or point blank ranges to dish out even more damage. Have the four MGs and a pair of Pulse Medium Lasers as 'backup' defensive weaponry, should keep enemy Light units from becoming too much of a problem. Especially considering that the pulse mediums have that innate accuracy 'bonus'. With 10 IS-DSHS, the Mech can 'run and gun' all day without overheating, unless the pilot 'Alpha Strikes' by adding the ER Large Laser to the closer ranged weapons when dealing with said enemy Light units. Just a few thoughts for your consideration. Post Script: No, this is NOT just 'min-maxing' the unit. The MGs are pretty good for seeking critical hits, and 12 damage of the Pulse Lasers is better than the maximum of 8 for the SRM missiles.

I like this little guy a lot. I could imagine a downgraded model with a standard engine (probably reduced to a 5/8), standard laser, and a standard SRM4 being a popular light garrison mech. You'd still be getting most of the advantages of a mech (unlike the urbie) and it can fight decently at all ranges.

Not horrible art wise. (nice change of pace) I presume the fin on the top is an antenna array. And not going to argue about the pronunciation of "Bowie" LOL I grew up with the "Bow-eee" pronunciation and I'll continue to use it. You do you Rocket. (from the US and I am old enough to think of the knife first and the singer second)

@Wastelandman70008 күн бұрын
I do too. Though its a bit of a let down to think it might just be an antenna array. Its shaped similar to the antenna fins you see on electronics warfare planes.

I rather enjoy the "ramble" part where you put the raw info you just dumped into context, particularly in the friendly and conversational way you present it. That being said I would rather you continue make ng new content rather than tweaking older stuff, but I'm subscribed and listen to everything you give us regardless. Good work and carry on, sir!

I was just thinking of consistency really since I have been making Lore videos for so long now that if you go back to the originals they are shorter, I'm not as comfortable reading them out and they don't have the same end ramble as the new ones do. I would however remove the old ones from the playlist so everything would be consistent but this is something I would probably do long after all of the TRO stuff is finished.

For the post clan invasion era there are a few really good IS lights, the razorback(esp the PPC configuration) is on my list along with the nighthawk and talon.

I was wondering about the Osiris. The Razorback PPC variant is a bit of a beast, but the Razorback generally feels like the designers are reinventing the Wolfhound.
@JuNkBoYcaNNoN7 күн бұрын
If were to hazard a guess, that, "fin," functionally would, likely, be part of the comm and sensor systems. (Think the fins we see on the roofs of cars). Basically, an antenna. Aesthetically, it's representative of the ridge of fur that stands up on the back of a razorback pig. 🐗
