We have this and it's a fun beer and pretzels sort of game. It's such a fancy production for such a simple push our luck game, it feels like it should be more involved and more complicated and it doesn't hit the table often, but I'm always surprised by how much I enjoy it when it does. I think the way it uses the dice and your collected cards to determine the amount of actions you get is pretty clever.

I have seen Chac, but not played it. The Pyramid isn't randomized, other than the treasure cards you dig up and the spot the blocks fall on. The blocks make it hectic and fun though as you never know where they are gonna fall. I think an adventurer's with a "reveal the dungeon as you go" mechanic would rock! Thanks for watching and commenting!

Thanks for the review. This game was never one that I looked at before, but now you have definitely peaked my interest.

Oh, and yes, Pompeii has more of a Survive feel, and we love that one too. Enjoy!

Correct, I found that out after posting this, and just haven't had a chance to edit or annotate anything, but that's spot on.

You know, I passed by it several times myself, but then I received it as a gift and we love it! My 6 yr old plays and my 18 yr old plays and they both love it! Glad you liked it, let us know what you think if you pick it up!

It is a lot of fun. We recently started playing the reprint of Mayfair's Downfall fo Pompeii, which is very similar, but involves more "escaping" than pushing your luck "in deeper" and it's been fun too. If you like this, I'd recommend checking that out.

A single dynamite equipment card would be nice!

Hello, very informative review! Thanx for your effort. Well done! I have just received my ordered copy for the following Friday evening with a couple of friends. I wonder how it's gonna work out.

Nice video, thinking of picking up this game somewhere. Also, you sound like Nathan Fillion which is doubly awesome.

Thanks for that recommendation! My wife was just asking if I could find something that's more like survive! ...and after watching a few videos, I think downfall of pompeii might just be the thing! (even though that wasn't necessarily the correlation you were making)- but why aren't the wood tokens meeples? - way more fun to toss a meeple into a volcano than a hexagonal cylinder...

did any of you ever tried the Temple of Chac, and if yes. Which one should I get! I know I will love both game.. but i wanted to buy Temple today, and got told there was a Pyramid... so i was kinda hoping Pyramid map was randomize! Seems not! They should make a 3rd version where you could move the map around! Anyway, which one of the 2 should I get! After both review, i think the temple seems a bit more fun, but less replayability. Can't decide! argghhh!

Actually, there isn't a 3rd game ... the upcoming Adventurers game is the re-issue of Temple of Chac (the original Adventurers board game)

At the suggestion of @demo_ken from twitter, we added a flickering battery powered votive to the volcano and it was awesome! Yeah, I wish they were meeples, but if you are like me, you have a TON laying around. Check out the 2nd video here (exchange an actual . in the [DOT] brackets): facebook[DOT]com/media/set/?set=vb.251439504942192&type=2
