@@frankesler8774 We look forward to when the deer start to set up residence on our property. They haven't had to thus far, but the more they discover us, the more they'll want to visit more often! There are so many new people in the chat now and I know so few of them. I sincerely apologize for being away for far too long. I retired a couple of years ago, and I find my viewing habits have changed. Take care, and have a Merry Christmas, from Mike in Canada

Hi Mike!! So happy you still watch on occasion! I really miss the the roof rats as well. I can't tell you how many people emailed us saying we should discourage the rats, but critters are critters and that forest was just as much their home as it was to the deer and the squirrels! I really got attached to Ben, the Roof Rat that would stand on his tiny little hind legs to drink water. Melted my heart! I do hope you stop by the chat and reconnect with some loyal chatters who have literally been with us since the beginning and meet some of the new chatters as well. Chatters tned to ebb and flow, but we do have a core group that visit time and time again and it's such an honor for us to have long-time chatters and viewers visit often. Melts my heart even more than the Roof Rat!!

We've only seen the joeys on mama's back a handful of times. Our camera recording device stopped working and we lost a lot of footage that included joeys. We only recently got a new recording device (it records directly from the cams before the video gets sent to KZbin, thus the quality is much clearer) and hopefully we'll get some more joey sightings! They are absolutely the cutest little critters that I've ever seen! I hate to say that I have a favorite critter, but boy oh boy, opossums.....specifically baby 'possums, really melt my heart!

@CritterVision Жыл бұрын
Well we're not out of the woods so to speak with the gators. There are large farm ponds nearby and they are building a giant subdivision a few miles away so there will be detention ponds with underground drainage that the gators like to use to get around. Gators are native to this entire area so it's not out of the question that they "might" show up here, but having said that, we are much much much further away from the marshes than at the old place, so that's a benefit!

Mango is a cool cat! He and Henry (the brown collie) are good buddies and Mango will follow Henry all over the place, whether Henry wants that or not! It's just the silliest thing ever and not something I expected to see from a cat!

@CritterVision Жыл бұрын
Your comment sent me down a rabbit hole looking to see how and if those 2 snakes are related somehow, but I couldn't find anything that confirmed that fact. A true sidewinder snake is venomous & when it moves , it maintains only 2 points of contact on the ground at any given time. I re-watched the watersnake and while it did move in a sideways trajectory, it seems to maintain quite a bit of contact on the ground through the whole length of it's body. I'm going to look further into this and reach out to a person I know that is a South Carolina snake expert and find out some info as this is interesting!
