David Attenborough will celebrate his 98th birthday in 6 days (May 8th). I find it incredible that he still delights us with such great documentaries and I wish him all the best and that he stays with us for a long time to come. Best wishes from Germany to all who read this! 🙂

Well, there is a script. Everything in documentaries (the "spectacular" ones, like BBC's) is edited to create stories that did not actually happen, with scenes taken from different situations or days, and then cut and pasted. They also add sounds.

1:25 As an airplane nerd, that flare to slow down to land followed by clear wing stall is an amazing capture! Look at the fur near the leading edge on mama's shoulders - it is smooth in laminar flow, but as she flares, her angle of attack increases until the air delaminates, and goes chaotic as her wing stalls - just as her air speed and rate of climb reach zero, poink! She sticks the landing.

Don't feed wild animals and never touch them. It's not good for them. Other humans can harm them more easily, the squirrels can overpopulate and then end up becoming a nuisance to the community and could end up being killed because of it. They are wild and can find their own food.
Evolution is so beautiful. It never ceases to amaze.

Had one for a pet when I was a kid. His name was Rocky, got him from his nest when he was a juvenile and he had never taken his first flight. When he got a little older we introduced him to gliding by playing catch. The first couple of times he was freaking and adjusting like crazy but that went away really fast. They are nocturnal and for a long time we kept him in a screened breeze way. He would sleep inside a ball of string all day and as soon as evening rolled around he would spend the afternoon gliding for the top of the screen on one side of the room to the other. Great little pet, very cute and friendly
