Great looking blade shape, but any true assassin would not be leaving his/her identification with such large billboarding on the side of the blade. Zorro merely left a "Z", but never emblazed it on his sword. I, myself, would have gone for a longer blade and on a fixed knife. Field strip? Only if I wanted to break apart and scatter the evidence and then vanish into the night. This CRKT Goken came out 5 years ago and reviews have been critical of the steel, clip, action and of the strip technology, but having found it on sale for $35, I am very tempted to get one. My Ninja days have long been over and no contracts seem to be coming my way.

Once a ninja always a ninja. Yes I agree it was a little bit unnecessary to have a fieldstrip technology on a self-defense knife and I also get the complaint about the stell but for the intended purposes for which this knife was designed it is perfectly fine and all of this helps to keep the cost down so that by now after 5 yeas everybody can afford this beautiful knife.

I love the James Williams CRKTs. I've got two Heihos (plain edge and serrated), three Hissatsu folders, a Goken, two Inazuma No Kens and two Otanashi Noh Kens. Actually, it was the Otanashi Noh Ken that kickstarted my passion for folding knives and after that, I bought my first Hissatsu folder and I was hooked. I missed out on the Shizuka Noh Ken. By the way, I also have a Hissatsu fixed blade.

I feel your pain I also need Shizuka noh Ken to complete the old ckrt folder collection the new Inazuna no Ken and Williams Blade Design Osoraku Zukuri Spectral is also on my list. As far as fixed blades go there are just to many that are not available anymore some are on ebay but cost too much money so I will probably never get them. Thanks for sharing and have a nice day.

I prefer 4116 over AUS8 any day. I noticed this one is razor sharp and the others in the series are very dull. Great review as usual Patrik!

Yes for some reason they came not sharp from the factory maybe QC problem.

What an odd statement. Other than being like 5% more stainless, 8cr/aus8 is better than 4116/5cr is every way. I guess it takes about 10 seconds longer to sharpen, but that gets you about 30% better edge retention. This feels like one of those things dumb people say just to be contrarian, or because they think it's something a smart/more knowledgeable person would say.

First Williams made the Hissatsu fixed blade, then the folder. After came the Heiho. Then the Otanashi and Shizuka.
