It's really disappointing that even Futurology, which is overall a great channel, had to put a clickbaiting title. Even the video explains the opposite and directly negates the title. Not only is it annoying, but it's also sad. Also, the video failed to mention a couple of important points: 1. "Croatia blocking Bosnia's entrance to the sea" is a low quality propaganda of Bosniak politicians. They didn't bring up that statement because they want the best for the country. They did it in spite. They even tried to get to the International Court of Justice and the European Commission to block the construction of the bridge, but neither the ICJ nor the European Commission took them seriously, since, as already stated, it was just a low quality propaganda. 2. A potential port at Neum is not even a concept. It's a myth, since it's impossible to build a port there. The sea in the Neum corridor is way too shallow for a port and the constructing an actual port there would take a century of digging, to make the sea deep enough for a port. Not a single country in the wider region has the money, labour nor power to do that. 3. People of Neum would also strongly oppose the construction of that mythical port, since the city of Neum is the only city in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which lays on the Adriatic coast and attracts tourists. Building a port there would destroy the tourism of the city. 4. The bridge complies with every law out there and it's big and high enough for any vessel in the Adriatic Sea, to pass under it. Even the largest container ships which go to the largest container port in the Adriatic Sea, the port of Trieste, can pass under it. So saying that the bridge "isn't high enough" is a false statement. 5. The people of Neum Corridor don't oppose the construction of the bridge. They don't even care, since it won't change anything for them. Those who oppose the construction of the bridge are sitting in their comfy chairs in their offices in Sarajevo and have absolutely nothing to do with Neum.

Of course, the reason why Muslim politicians ( not Bosnian-Herzegovinian, because Serb and Croat politicians in BiH have nothing against) oppose the construction of the bridge is not because it would hinder the access of ships to the future port. The real reasons why BiH Muslim politicians are against building the bridge are as follows: 1. By building a bypass bridge, they will no longer be able to blackmail Croatia (blackmail by occasional closures and traffic restrictions through Neum - what they did in the past) 2. By creating tensions, they want to influence their people and additionally politically radicalize and homogenize them against Croatia and Croats. The construction of the port is absurd because of many reasons: 1. Natural conditions do not allow the use of the port in a way that would be economically justified 2. Building a port would create an environmental disaster 3. The construction of the port requires huge funds (Railway, highway, large warehouses and terminals, etc., and BiH does not have that money, nor does anyone else want to invest billions of dollars in economically unjustified investment 4. The local BiH population is against the construction of the port and support the construction of the bridge, because the bridge means great benefit to them, and the port means the destruction of their economy - especially tourism. 5. BiH has given its consent to the construction of a bridge (with the only condition regarding the height, and which is accepted and the bridge of such height is being built) Etc., etc ... It should be noted that Croatia also offered BiH other solutions, such as the construction of a corridor across the Neum, but this was vigorously rejected by Muslim politicians in BiH without any real reason.

Great looking bridge that should have been build long ago! It is not a question of whether Croatia has the right to build this bridge because of course they do. Croatia has the right to build on their territory and connect their sovergn state, and in so doing will connect all of Europe. All European leaders want this too. Like it was pointed out by others, the only opposition was in Sarajevo By incompetent politicians sitting behind comfy desks who are trying to justify their jobs.I think that most Bosnian citizens will agree that the politicians in Sarajevo should be doing a lot more for its citizens then complain about a bridge that I will have zero impact on BiH.

It will block Bosnia from having a port for trading
@paulallen81096 ай бұрын
@@danutbe6541 Does Switzerland need a port for trading?? They don't and still are the wealthiest country in Europe. Switzerland is not in the EU, neither is Norway and yet those two have the highest average GDP/capita in all of Europe. Does Austria, Hungary and the Czech Republic have a port? No, they're landlocked. Hasn't stopped them in any way. Cuba meanwhile can have all the ports in the world and it won't make a difference for they under an economic blockade and severe sanctions by the USA. Besides, what Bosnia sells (exports) abroad goes to Croatia 14%, Germany 14%, Serbia 13%, Italy 10%, Austria 9%. Bosnia's imports are from these countries: Croatia 16%, Serbia 13%, Germany 8%, Italy 8%, China 7% (2022) What does this mean? If Bosnia sells most of its products to Croatia, Germany, Serbia, Italy and Austria *then all those countries can be reached by land* . Croatia and Serbia are neighbors and Austria and Germany are a day away by car/truck. Italy is the only country which would be faster to trade with by sea. How much more can Italy buy from Bosnia? Suppose Italy wants to buy more minerals/metals. Then that would mean Germany (and the others) will get less and prices will go up. If so Germany can offer *more money* to keep their percentage. This will only benefit trade. The most common destination for the exports of Bosnia and Herzegovina are Croatia ($1.47B), Germany ($1.46B), Serbia ($1.35B), Italy ($1.07B), and Austria ($942M). What country would Bosnia need to sell its products too for a port to be necessary? Egypt? Libya? Malaysia? As for imports to Bosnia *same story* . Only China is a far-away country which requires shipping. If the Chinese themselves knew they could benefit greatly from this trade they'd finance most of the port. When the biggest export and import partners for Bosnia are close to them and reachable by simple road transport why is a port for sea trade so important?

@ivozagreb34323 жыл бұрын
This is an incredibly incorrect and just plain wrong video. Croatia did everything not to block the bay of Neum for large ships and in my humble opinion Croatia did too much because Neum cannot be turned into a harbor - the sea is too shallow there. Then for just being correct, the opposition to the bridge came only from the Bosnian Muslims. Bosnia and Herzegovina is not a state of Bosnian Muslims. It is a state of Serbs, Croats and Bosnian Muslims and only the Bosnian Muslims opposed the bridge. When Turkey built the bridges over Bosporus, they didn't ask anyone for permission, and that is one of the most important sea passages.

First you should know that Bosnia and Herzegovina consists of three constitutive nations Bosniaks, Croats and Serbs. Neum is mostly settled with Croats. B&H has three member presidency with Bosniak, Croatian and Serbian member of presidency. You have shown in the video on 06:42 Bosniak member Šefik Džaferović and so called Croatian member Željko Komšić, with these two wanted to sue Croatia because of this bridge. In the end Serbian member Milorad Dodik saved Croatia and voted against that in addion Croatia to build the border bridge near Gradiška. Željko Komšić is not actually Croatian member because he won this place with Bosniak votes which is a huge fraud and only because of loophole. Croats are the smallest nation in B&H and Bosniaks the biggest which gives them possibility to false election of so called Croatian member. That's why Croats in B&H are calling for the new election law. Croatians helped Bosnia and Herzegovina in the war and that's why Bosniaks are ''thankful'' today with this behavior.
