Croc 2 any% Speedrun

This was performed on PC. Run starts at 0:00:11 when i overwrite the save. Run ends at 1:21:01 when the yellow crystal is placed. Sorry i couldn't place any speedrun split software over the run because croc 2 is very stubborn with its fullscreen and i don't have the video editing software to place one on the recording.
Most deaths in this run were intentional to save time or to replenish lives. There were 3 accidental deaths though, 2 on the snowball level and 1 really stupid one near the end of the game on the hover pad.
I use a glitch which allows Croc to jump on hazards such as lava and spikes without getting hurt. This is done by pressing jump just before he hits the hazard.
Overall this was a very good run with few mistakes but there is definitely a few more minutes of improvement possible.

Recon SS I don’t understand why people complain about camera work so much. It works well, even if it loses it from time to time, it’s easy to fix it back by turning Croc around.

Windows 7 64bit Ultimate. I also tried it on Windows 10 (not sure which one) and it worked fine.

RottenDragon for me it ran perfectly fine on its own. Since then i have tweaked it a bit, but those arent necessary for just playing it. I moved files onto my hardrive to make load times faster, and i run it in windowed mode with dxwnd so obs can record it easier.

not sure if its frame perfect, but there is a pretty small window where you can jump and not take damage from hazardous surfaces.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but you don't seem to be using the turnaround. Isn't that faster than turning around manually with the arrow keys?

There was a turn around button in croc 1, where he would either 180 or flip around (depending on if he was standing or running) so he would face the opposite direction. As far as im aware, that is not in croc 2

Hmh, then maybe we found a way to cut down on the time :) I've been replaying Croc 2 on my PC, and been using a turnaround. In the controls menu there is a "Camera/180" option, in my case in it assigned to X. Hitting that button produces an almost instant turn compared to turning around with the arrow keys. It seems slower than in Croc 1, but it is there. Well, at least in my version. Although I don't know which version it is. :D

well this run was 2 years ago after only a handful of serious attempts. I'll come back to any% at some point and improve it. Many time saves and generally better ways of doing things have been found since.

This was on the American version, Which has gummi savers. The European version has different coloured jelly instead

Lifesavers gummis was a lolly in the US that they had a brand deal with to include in the game. I assume that deal just didnt extend to the EU region.

I have problem... for some reason I can't go to that ice cave or to pirate boss (i like done all levels)

Once you complete all the levels in the world (5 main levels plus 1 boss) it should warp you to the pirate boss. Sometimes it wont warp me, and i have no idea why. If this happens, you can enter the pirate boss from the hole in the ground where you entered the world which is now open.

Yes, it isnt finishing the squid that teleports you to the pirate boss, it occurs upon completing the last level, whichever one you chose to do last.
