Truly gorgeous shawl. Let me take the opportunity to tell you how much I appreciate the time you took to show from start how to do every single stitch to row 13 and then explained how to continue but the mere fact you offered help when purchasing the pattern, bumped this way up. I’ll be making this for my best friend in the world. Thank you. I’ll check Etsy to see what else is there to entice me.

I'm working on the Victorian German shell shall now, but this is so beautiful i just ordered some ombré yarn to make this next, i just love tge colors and the gorgeous details. I too love how clear your tutorials are, so nice how clear you show the steps and stitches. Due to medical conditions i hadn't crocheted it 20+ years, i was surprised i was able to follow along. I did have to pull out a row where on the victorian german shell shall, where i miss heard about tge valley beibg the same asthe double crochet, but that wasn't a big deal think that was in row 12. Anyway, it's looking good except mine is looking tighter and yours is more wide spread. Still gorgeous. I can't thank you enough for sharing your skills and patterns. I never thought I'd be able to do something i enjoyed so much after my illness. Gives me somethingto do in bed. Thank you kindly!

I like yours all work. Those are really great. Please tell me, if I use velvet yarn and 6 mm hook.. how much yarns need?
@JonnaMartinezCrochet Жыл бұрын
Oh my!!!! I’m so excited to hear you would try this in velvet yarn! I used around 607 yards for my shawl. Using different yarns and hooks, you should account for a little more to be safe! Also you might want it larger than mine. So when buying yarn I like to get something I can buy more of if needed or buy enough that I can use the extra on other things. I have a velvet yarn hat tutorial too if you’re interested. If you have social media like FB or IG please tag me or feel free to message me. I would love to see photos of this shawl! Thank you for watching and commenting.

Is the yarn a 8mm yarn or are you using a smaller yarn and a bigger hook?
@JonnaMartinezCrochet4 ай бұрын
Worsted weight yarn. Usually you would use a 5 or 6mm hook. But I’m using the bigger hook for speed and squish factor for this design. You can use the recommended hook size as well. I’ve done it! Thank you for watching and commenting!

Hi what other weight yarn could i use if DK weight what hook size would i use??
@JonnaMartinezCrochet Жыл бұрын
Hi! You could use any yarn weight you like, DK would be a great choice. And I feel like the lighter yarns will provide even more drape. For DK I would use 5mm or 6mm Whatever you feel most comfortable trying the first 3 rows with. Let me know how it goes if you like! Thank you for watching! I hope you enjoy making this shawl.

What size hook would i use if i was using fingering weight 4 ply?
@JonnaMartinezCrochet Жыл бұрын
You can experiment, I think personally I would be comfortable with a 3mm hook to a 5mm hook and that yarn. Just work up the first 3 rows and see how the hook feels/looks. This pattern is super versatile and seems to work well with so many hooks/yarns. Thank you for watching and commenting.

I’m new to crochet so please forgive my question why is the hook size so big is it for drape?
@JonnaMartinezCrochet10 ай бұрын
It’s just the hook I wanted to use. But you don’t need to use a hook this big if you don’t want to. And yes the extra large hook makes the stitches big and squishy. The smaller hooks will make a more dense material. Thank you for watching!
