Ive been making blankets doing a single then double, then single , double, rep, (US) but I didnt put them in the same stitch, and I didnt skip a stitch. I guess I must have heard it wrong before. My blankets came out really nice, but now that you showed me the correct way, Im going to start a blanket tonight!! Thanks so much, Alison!!!
@Scorpio45Libra2 жыл бұрын
I kinda like the sound of that sc, then dc...not in the same stitch but not skipping any either. I might just give that a try as well as Alison's version! That's how great things happen, is by making mistakes that turn out not to be a mistake after all.

Super pattern! Love that it's fast, yet pretty. You're right (as far as what I like)I love fast yet stitch patterns that are nice looking😍. I'll be making this 1! Now I'm making a gray lap blanket for 1 of the city bus drivers. She bought 3 skeins of very soft chunky yarn, but made the foundation row super long. With the "beginner" hook she was using-it made her feel that crochet just isn't her forte.☹I told her that it made it uncomfortable for me to use also. We're going to get together and I'll help her learn to crochet with a metal straight hook. Not a bulky platic huge 1
@darrinmckeehan56972 жыл бұрын
I'm making it by a similar pattern =US terms 1 SC/1 HDC/1 DC in same stitch. UK terms=DC/HTC/TC

Marvelous. I used a similar stitch for a baby blanket I made over the holidays. It has a multiple of 3. The pattern is sc dc dc (US terms) all in the same st and sk 2. Repeat. Both patterns achieve such a beautiful result, in my humble opinion.

Would it be possible to do a U.S. single crochet for the bottom and for a beginning and last stitch of each row?

It's just me again. I can't find a 7mm hook here in New York. They go from 6mm, 61/2mm to 8 mm
@annekeating19402 жыл бұрын
Hi Frances, you don't necessarily need a 7mm hook. I thought the chunky sample with the 9mm hook looked equally as nice as the others. I'm sure a size 8mm with a chunky yarn would turn out really well. The gold blanket was done with a 6mm and double knit wool. I honestly think you can't go wrong. Hope this helps 🙏

Hi Alison Happy New Year, I love this & the wriggle blanket- I want to do these in 30 x 60cm size, can you tell me how many chains the 1st row should have please? Xx
@diana43532 жыл бұрын
I am wondering if a Bernat velvet yarn will work with this stitch and not do the worming velvet yarn is known for. Love the yarn but looking for a blanket pattern that won't worm. I will be using this pattern with other yarn also but wanted your advise for the velvet yarn.
@AlisonRussellsCrochetChannel2 жыл бұрын
Prsonally I think all velvet kind of worms after a wash anything iv made has holes ahahaha its slippy stuff and hard to hold a pattern.

I didn't do one but feel free to add one. Personally I'd just do a few rounds of UK treble crochets. (US double crochet)
@sarahmariakuipers39672 жыл бұрын
In South Africa we call a single stich a ,,"Kortbeentjie"and a dubbel stich we call a "Langbeentjie." Just to tell you I understand what you are saying.

Can of you that have commented help me do you start either with even or odd number for chain

Start with an EVEN number in your chain
@rebeccaaustin19752 жыл бұрын
Please can someone help and answer my comment
@AlisonRussellsCrochetChannel2 жыл бұрын
Its in the video, Rebecca, you do an even number of stitches and after you do your 1st row you will have an odd number
@joanneschmitt1461 Жыл бұрын
I understand you are teaching and I do love the patterns you do, but please don’t keep repeating yourself. Saying what double and treble are every time you start a new row is a little much. We get it after watching your tutorials. You also dwell on things too long. I want to learn the stitch and get going but have to wait for another explanation. Sorry, I know people won’t agree, but it’s just my opinion.
