I would recommend starting with an easy crochet bear, or puppy first, and faster than you realize, you will be ready to make one of these crochet pugs . I have separate you tube video tutorials for a small sleepy bear and puppies, that can get you started. I’ve just done the first fold on the pug snout & tested out the stuffing. Something doesn’t look right. When sewing that (lip) fold, I did it on the edge, should it have been further in? When I put the stuffing behind the lip kind of disappears. Could I put a few stitches in the middle of the snout circle & tack it under the nose?

I show step-by-step how to make all of my crochet items, so technically a beginner could make this crochet dog. It depends on learning style and how quickly a person can get used to the basic crochet stitches. Most people would do better starting with a simpler amigurumi first. Helen, I see that ravelry has the pattern. The reason I wanted it was because something didnt make sense. The crocheters need to turn work the way you do. If they don't this ends up a bit different.

Hi Lucy! I would recommend learning the magic circle, but if you have tried multiple times and just don't like it, then an alternative is this: Chain 2, and then put the desired number of stitches into the 1st chain. If there is a large hole that you can't close, then when you are finished, you would just sew it shut. I hope that helps.
