i have to thank you. 30 yrs ago i learned to crochet just by looking at pictures because i had know idea what any of the terminology ment and know one to ask or to teach me. Now 30 yrs later i know what some of it means and i can make a lot of beautiful things. i have never made a doll or animal until coming across your post on pintrest. I love the magic ring and will be using it forever now. This project has been so fun and easy with your help. Cant wait to make more of your projects you have shared. Also thank you for being so clear on what steps are next and showing exactly how to do them step by step. You are a natural teacher.

Excellent tutorial! I’ve just finished my own elephant and this is my very first amigurumi toy ever! It was easy to follow your instructions and it was fun. I am determined to make another one; maybe it will come out not as cockeyed as the first one. Thank you for your work and for your time!

I am not sure how anyone could put a thumbs down. This video is fantastic. I have made bears and now elephants. The instructions are clear and easy to follow.( I have been making the bears for the babies born addicted at the local hospital.) I am so thankful for these tutorials.

I'm so happy to hear that, thank you for being so kind to those babies. I'm grateful and honored you are using my patterns in such a way. It means so much! Don't worry about the thumbs down, those aren't hurtful to me in anyway. There will always be those who leave their negativity, that's par for the course. It happens all over youtube. Some is deserved and some isn't. I'm blessed with 95% positive feedback so I feel pretty lucky and will keep on doing what I love. These older videos of mine are poor quality so I understand some of those thumbs down, lol I've gotten better and still learning :)

Thank you SO MUCH for these wonderful tutorials!!!! I have never been so thrilled to achieve making these adorable creatures. My Mom is in a long term care facility with stage 4 dementia and I have been making your creatures for her. Elephants are one of her favorites and I can hardly wait to bring this to her. I made it out of a bundle of baby mint yard that she had purchased on sale years ago for .99 cents! Although she will not recognize the yarn, she will love her new addition to her animal kingdom. Thanks again❤

Hi Sharon, As I commented before your tutorials are excellent. I wonder if you have or had another profession as a teacher. Your attention to detail is five star. You have the added talent of being able to speak quickly but still you are very easy to follow. I admire the way your hands move especially when working in such small areas. I tried to follow how you tension your yarn, but I was all thumbs. I did the tail twice and really had trouble in the small area. My co-ordination was laughable. I did finish it. I'm ready to sew the little guy together. I hope I can get the pipe cleaner, it really does make a difference. I have learned so much putting Ellie Elephant together. I never would have never thought to sew into the work so deep. I hope you get to read this. I'm going to make a second elephant. He will be Alfie the baby elephant.

thank you very much Dorothy, your words mean a lot.. straight to my heart! As far as tension goes I think it just takes practice. I know when I don't crochet for a while it take a bit of time to hold the yarn comfortably again. Keep me posted, I would love to hear of your progress

Yes, your tutorial is excellent, nothing left out and easy to follow. I just finished row 4 and feel the need to ask if mine should look a little bigger than a silver dollar. I might be to used to making baskets with double thread and think its tiny!.lol, I Just want to make sure I'm on the right track with the small size so far. I thank you and I'll be checking out all your tutorials, this is my first and love it!

I used red heart comfort yarn to make mine, that's a worsted weight yarn, a 10 ply. I can't remember what size hook I used but that will be in the supplies list of the written pattern. Link is in the description box of video. If you're using a smaller hook and/or a lighter weight yarn then it will come out smaller than mine. There's nothing wrong with that, just smaller :)
@juliebenson3990

Thank you very much, I have been using 4.5 hook, it is smaller than what it seems in the pictures, but it's alway difficult to tell what size they are from a camera. I have the head and the body, just completed. Cant wait to check out what other goodies/tutorials you have. :-) I also overstuffed the head a bit, I can see the stuffing through some places. Do you think I should have used a larger or smaller hook?

Love this Patter. Mine Elephant turned out super cute... though I did make a few modifications..I lightly stuffed my trunk and didn't add the pipe cleaner as I was affraid the pointy ends might hurt a small infant... I also did a few stitches in the trunk to hold it in an upright position... second change I did was to crochet my mouth in red and then a row of the body colour along the outside.. again... I didn't want to use felt/glue for a small infant. I think it turned out lovely! Thank you for sharing your craft! Hi from New Brunswick Canada!

Your videos are so clear and easy to follow. I have made several of the animals. Although they are still cute, mine end up with wider holes than yours. I am not sure whether I am over-stuffing or whether I should use a smaller hook. I don't want the head to be floppy, but don't like the holes!

Tayler Mettra a smaller hook would be helpful and try to tighten up your stitches. It takes practice but you'll get there!

Great video. A tip I would like to share. I always use a safety pin as a stitch marker. A piece of yarn will more than likely fall out. The safety pin has never fallen out. Thanks for posting.

+yubidubi that's a great tip, thanks :) I've heard of people using safety pins, bobby pins, clips and actual stitch markers. I've always used yarn since it's just super easy and fast and I have plenty on hand but people should use what works for them of course.

Hi Sharon, First thank you for such a fantastic video! You talk your time and speak softly and plainly that for me is exceptional! You also make sure that we can see exactly what you are doing..again fantastic! This is only my 2nd crochet item so I am new beyond new and I've been able to follow you. I did run into a couple of rows where I had more stitches than you did and in the the 1st 10 rows it was easy to go back and figure out where I went wrong. I'm on row 15 and have 3 extra stitches and not sure I can undo to a point I know where to pick up so unsure whether to just start over or continue with the extra 3 stitches. Guess I can continue..the worse that can happen is I have to undo all LOL But you're videos are by far the easiest I have found for me to follow! And I'm looking forward to learning and making more with you as my teacher! Again thank you and God Bless!!

I was looking for an easy beginner style tutorial for an elephant amigurumi, since my boss loves elephants.....I started your tutorial with thicker yarn (size 8mm hook) that the head turnout to be so huge and body tiny. I was disappointed then started with a thinner yarn & realized you recommended 4.5mmhook ( I only have 4mm hook).....I am SO GLAD that i switched. I am SO happy with how it turned out. Thank You so much..... I especially appreciate that you added so many options for eyes. Since i dint have felt, i crocheted the the tongue using the same semi 6 stitch & then slip stitches across those 6, to make it a bit thicker. It fit so well & look like a tongue because of the slight gap. Love It. i will definitely be making one more 🤩😁
