CROCHET BABY BLANKET FOR BEGINNERS

THIS PRETTY TEXTURED BABY BLANKET IS SUITABLE FOR BEGINNERS.
IF YOU CAN WORK A SLIP STITCH, SINGLE AND DOUBLE CROCHET, YOU CAN DEFINITELY CROCHET THIS BLANKET.
I HAVE USED A DK, 3 WEIGHT YARN WITH A 4.5 MM AND 3.5 MM HOOK
THE BLANKET IS MADE USING MULTIPLES OF 4.
FOR THIS SMALL CRIB SIZE BLANKET I STARTED WITH 76 CH.
WITHOUT THE SHELL BORDER THE BLANKET MEASURES 15" BY 30"
THIS PATTERN WORKS JUST AS WELL USING DIFFERENT YARN WEIGHTS.
THE STITCH IS THE CORNER TO CORNER STITCH WORKED IN ROWS BUT THERE ARE SOME ADJUSTMENTS TO THE STITCH TO REDUCE THE GAPS.
I ALSO DEMONSTRATE HOW TO FINISH OFF WITH A STRAIGHT EDGE AND HOW TO CROCHET THE SHELL BORDER.

Why are you going up into a size up in hook?

I preferred the overall appearance this gave.

Having a smaller hook to start and finish and then work the edge gives a denser finish. I didn't want the main part of the blanket as dense so used the recommended hook size for the yarn.
